YES! I knew ahead of time I wasn't going to find anyone to see Diving Bell and Beaufort with me so I went alone for those and a few others. I sit near the front of the theater with the other single people.

I saw the last three films I wanted to see this weekend as well as The Counterfeiters. I'm happy I decided to see that one at the last minute since it won for best foreign film. Best documentary Taxi To The Dark Side slipped through the cracks so I hope it stays in theaters a few weeks longer so I can see that one too. I'll comment about the rest of the winners later.

I'm only a movie fiend in January and February.

I thought the script was quite good. The dialogue was tight and sharp and the story complex. The script was its strength, not the directing or cinematography certainly.

I think everything ended up appropriately. Except I was surprised by Tilda Swinton's win and she starting out her speach with "Oh no" wasn't very good. I was kind of surprised that Diablo Cody won because, come on, how hard is it to write a cynical, sarcastic teenage story? I bet I could do it. And her speech wasn't even witty at all. Also, I'm glad they gave Marketa Irglova a second chance at her speech...that song is beautiful. And yeah for No Country, rightly so.

I think I'm getting old because I remember the Oscars being so boring because I didn't know anybody and last night I knew everybody.

Loved that Once beat out all those Enchanted songs for best original song.

That song from Once was perfect for the movie, perfect for the moment in the movie, and it stuck with me immediately.

That was the best moment of the whole evening for me--the song, the speeches, John Stewart "that guy is so arrogant!"

Great movie. It looked very real. I watched the making of on the DVD and the director said that afterward people were asking him if the two people in the film ever reunited with their respective partners. Apparently it looked so real that some people thought it was a documentary.

But it was interesting that they decided to film from certain angles (or from a distance) because they weren't really actors, and that got the best performance from them.

His take was interesting, too, he said most actors don't know each other and have to pretend they do, but they knew each other and had to pretend they didn't.
