I need a detailed org note. But... Juicy Boyz are Juicy Boyz when we travel in packs. You ain't a Juicy Boy until you went for a beer with the Gruesome Threesome. Which is Isten, Gomez et moi.

razz

So all that fuss is about the three of you having a beer?

A beer?????

sigh

I should have said 'a beer'. Codename for mucho nastiness I do not want to spread (heh) the details over on Org.

No, I can hear phone calls that declare such values.... are you saying said reported value is not in fact a Thai A? eek

It is an 'a', it's just that Thais don't really have one single 'A' sound, as English doesn't, but furthermore they have different characters for each 'a' sound. The way the alphabet works is different. I wish I could type Thai characters here.

There's a letter for 'a' as in 'father' and one like the 'a' in 'bat' as pronounced with an American accent (ae). Then there's an 'a' very close to a 'u' sound in something halfway between say 'puck' and 'pack'. Then there's a straight up 'a' sound as in just 'pack'. Not to forget a longer 'ae' sound and 'ay' as in 'pay'. All have a separate letter or special character to denote them.

It gets tricky when you consider how words are put together. Consonants are always written on the line, so to speak, in the main part of the text, as in the words of my post here. Some vowels are also always written in amongst the consonants in this fashion. However, others are just special characters you squiggle real small above consonants.

So the tattoo is an 'a' (as in 'father'). It's just that there are so many to choose from and Thais don't look at it the way we do. lol Their words don't even read from left to right in order of the characters. disbelief

It's also the spelling of the word for an aunt/uncle in the case of a father's younger sister or brother. boxed

I like the flourish on the first character. thumbs up!

no no no! don't confuse me, Nick.....or even try to upset me! mad
It's Jungle Jane's handwriting there.....she said that be the A from my name in western spelling.....which is what I wanted! lol I even doublechecked it with other Thai people! A week later some Thai dude even asked me in english why I had the A tattoed on my foot.....without me telling him first! nod

lol That's good it got the nod of approval from Thai folks. That's all you need. thumbs up! I'm just saying, it's also the way you spell uncle/aunt in the case of being a younger sister or brother. I'm usually 'luung Nick' around here but with my nephew Kay I'm known as 'aa Nick'. You're an uncle too, right? So it works on two levels! wink

In truth, if you were to write 'A' as in the way we say it when we refer to the letter, it wouldn't look right 'cause it'd be just one isolated tiny squiggle, so what you have is better. Is it the 'a' as in how you pronounce the 'a' when you say your name?

It wouldn't quite be ah as in ahnold, more like halfway between axe and arks. Make sense?

I remember getting really frustrated when we were arranging our marriage docs as the translators wouldn't accept how I wanted my name translated. They just said 'no, this is how Thai people would say it' even though I was telling them it just wasn't correct and surely I should know how it's said! I ended up sounding like I was part Korean or something. They say my name as Nicolat Leechaasan. mad
