It was 3 of us @ the time. My other co-worker was on the far end. He said it to my while I was snackin by the next to his teller window. I will tell him when we have our sit-down. I understood that he already had a fight with my other co-worker , his roomates were fighting and this lady fought with him to deposit fake money orders in her account omg , but it was still unclled 4.

Talking to him about it when you have the sit down is good but still take it to HR. Him having a bad day is no excuse and if he's having problems with that many people at work and in his personal life then something is wrong with him, he needs to get it in check. Plus that's an EEO offense and the bank can be held liable especially if a customer that's into suites would've over heard it.

Plus, "Buckwheat" doesn't just pop out of nowhere. Bad day or no, the phrase is indicative of his mindset and his willingness to test your boundaries.

B... B... Buckwheat!?! omfg

You MUST take this to HR... for your own dignity, for his professional growth, for the standards of the entire establishment. Be tactful, but definitely stick to your guns.

You know what kind of guy he is because you work with him. nobody else on this site does.

You could have hit him in the mouth, if you felt he really deserved it. Ask youself what kind of person you are to hit a person in the face for saying something wrong, though.

You could have a private talk with him, if you feel it would get through to him and possibly enlighten him. Ask yourself how you'd feel if you did that and you find out he's been this way and getting away with it for a while.

You could take it straight to HR and demand a reprimand. Ask yourself if doing that does anything more than cementing racist ideas in his mind.

You could take it to HR and explain how you'd like to have a talk with him about it, but you wanted them to be aware in case the private talk doesn't go well. That way they have your back if you suddenly find yourself out of a job from the guy you tried to give a chance to.

Like I said, only YOU know the guy, and only YOU know what you're comfortable with. HR is there to help you if you feel you don't want to handle it any other way.

I've had that problem in the past, and each time it seemed to require a different method of resolution. Usually a private talk goes over well, but when it doesn't, it can go REAL bad.

Good luck, and stay strong, man.

I am glad you are! As soon as I read this, I was like this is not okay. My kids Father is Market HR for 12 Walmart stores, what was said to you is a HUGE HR issue!

I am sorry that was said to you! That is wrong, and it shows the intelligence of this person who said it to you.

hug I hope it all works out.

Twice!! Follow the advice and also, other's may have had or could be having the same or similar issues with this person. I've had that happen where I talked to HR about a person I had an issue with and found out that others had come to them before me. Could be the same thing with your situation.

If you take that route, then you have the added benefit to knowing how your company will handle things. If you're not satisfied with how it all plays out, you now have a solid reason to get out of dodge.

Some people have no problem just going immediately on the defensive. That's okay, and the system has been designed to let that happen. But I got the impression that you were looking for some advice on a different way to resolve the issue. I really hope it works out for ya. If you really feel your job is worth the effort that road will take you, then go for it. - cheers!

Excellent advice on this thread. I definitely would bring this to HR's attention, since your supervisor sounds like a first class idiot.
