For male hair.
I'm looking for something
that will work with long male
hair (3 to 4 inches) but shorter
than an average female haircut.

It seems to soften my hair
and make it more manageable,
thus allowing me to use less
hair product than normal to style
it.

Any hair product tips would be
appreciated. FYI, I have straight
hair, but it is rather thick and
can be difficult to style.

OK, are you actually tryng to curl your hair? Or do you want it to remain straight?

Cause a curling iron with hair that short will give quite a bit of curl. Or you could get a flat iron, which will probably do what I think you want it to do... Or you could go with a fat round iron, and get a bit of volume, but there's still gonna be some roundness to it...

OK, you need a flat iron. You can go super high end and get a salon grade one with porcelin panels (probably $100+) all the way down to a super cheap one. I'm sure you can find a decent one at target, just be sure to get one with multiple heat settings and start on the low ones. No use frying your hair till you've had practice. Since your hair is relatively short, you shouldn't have to worry too much about frying it by using it regularly as you trim off the ends fairly quickly. Don't use it when your hair is wet. Also, you may want to use a product to protect your hair a bit when using it, such as biosilk...
