the things we do for fashion

So I'm on my way to a wedding. Looking forward to all of it.

But I got a new dress for it and it requires a strapless bra and I couldn't find my normal bustier I wear in such occasions and to make a long story short, I'm strapped into a corset so tight I can barely freaking BREATHE!! I don't know how women of the past wore these every single day, I'm actually worried about getting through the next 10 hours. lol

But the good news is, I look effing HOT! giggle My waist looks, well, not tiny, but the smallest it's every been. My boobs are practically shoved up to my neck. lol But all to fabulous effect.

What's the most uncomfortable thing you've done in the name of fashion?

Shoes...they're my weakness. I love them. Most of them unfortunately are not comfortable. They're made for making your feet look pretty. NOT for providing comfort. lol

My wedding dress weighed a ton and had a ridiculously long train. Just getting into it required the help of several people. I was always making sure that whenever I turned I didn't injure someone with the swooshing of the train.

It had a million little buttons all down the back and it was tight. So, that was a day that I really suffered to look pretty.

And now look. I'm getting a divorce. neutral

All that beautification for nothing. mad

If I get married again it will be simplistic all the way....

Probably shoes, I'm really into heels lately despite the fact that I don't wear them enough to truly get used to walking in them confused I have a pair of KILLER leather stiletto boots that hurt like hell (only 4") but I absolutely refuse to give them up. hmph!

Brazilian waxes aren't cozy, but that's not really fashion fashion. More like body fashion lol

OK, how many weeks are we talking? And, does it hurt less the more you do it? Do you have to do it less often as time goes by?

Shoes/boots. Some of them hurt like hell but they look amazing so I'll never give them up. I don't wear anything lower than a 3 1/2" heel - except for kicking around shoes. Most of my shoes/boots are 4" high.

High heels have probably caused me the most pain but I don't wear them on the regular. Once I also made a strapless bra out of packing tape because I didn't have one that went with the outfit I was wearing at the time.

Once, around the age of 16, was forced to wear a pink shirt with white pants and a white bowtie -- all for a junior ushers anniversary function. Those junior ushers' senior advisers were ruthless, man... Couldn't be satisfied with basic usher black. Those old ladies had to get "an anniversary uniform."

Just like just about everyone on this thread, I'm going to go with high heels. I like looking a bit taller since I'm so petite redface. Yeah, they can hurt, but I don't care lol

That wasn't of your own volition so I don't think that counts. no no no!

I don't think that most men (Prince excluded) do very uncomfortable things for fashion. In fact it seems like designers know that the only way a man will even consider looking good is if his outfit is comfortable.

Although I did know this one guy who used to wear those nylon socks that make your fet smell because he thought they looked good. I was like, "But they make your feet smell!" and he said, "Yeah, but they look real good with my shoes"

shrug

Most of my pain isn't fashion related, it's a sacrifice to the theatre gods.

I just finished a run of A Christmas Carol in which I wore a very tight corset, a heavy petticoat, a full wig, and a fully lined wool dress for 11 performances in two weeks - all while dancing and singing.

It was hell...and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. cool

1. Sportin' Waves (probably the stuff that made me go bald...)
2. Shaving. I hate it, can barely skip a day.

i'm not seen in public in anything less than a 6inch heel.

i've done entire parades in 9inch ones.

actully it's not that bad. men have a higher center of gravity than women so it's easier for us to walk in heels.

Depends on how fast or slow your hair grows really, I think the standard is 3-6 weeks unless the waxer is bad & the hair doesn't pull from the root. I pretty much go once a month smile

& no, it never gets easier lol We're talking vagina lips, that shit hurts omfg But it's so brief & so worth it nod I haven't been doing it long enough to see a longer time period between waxes, I've only done it steadily for about 4 months now smile
