sabbaticals

have you ever taken one ? why ? how long ? what did you do ?

I personally don't see the purpose of it ... I think they are kind of a trend and today you can't be a 'professional' if you are not planning or had one.

I do understand that someone needs some time off, and it doesn't bother me in the least but why the fuck do they all want to blog about it ??? It's not good enough you left us here with all the work ? Now you want us to read how you burned your lazy bum lying 6 hours next to a swimming pool or how you found yourself in a Buddhist monastery ?

I once visited a customer of mine and he told me their CEO was taking a sabbatical, but it was ok cuz they could all read his blog !!! I was like "dude ... he's laughing in your face, don't you get that ???"

Anyway, the subject is sabbaticals ... discuss !

You mean org sabbaticals?

I used to take them at the end of every year. The problem is people love me so much , and like are so totally into me and stuff that this place just totally goes to hell when I'm away. Oh the burden that rest upon my shoulders. sigh

One of the things an org sabbatical does is allow me to break one of my vices (spending too much idle time on the Internet) and focus on things I need to be thinking about--the Internet is my escape from life sometimes. Sometimes you just need to tear away and face your problems or devote your time to other things. Sometimes it's much easier to do if you delete your account.

I'm overdue for a sabbatical. But not just an org sabbatical--one that involves withdrawing from my normal life routines , which I have found waste time in general and don't contribute strongly to my career or financial aspirations.

I had plan on breaking a six figure salary by now and haven't gotten there yet. I ain't doing bad, but I could be doing better--and this irks me. Often withdrawing from the regular life patters that slow you down can help.

Also, sabbaticals from the Internet, TV. or the usual life routine is a great way to get perspective and understand where you are in life, etc. etc. Too often I find that I fall into the trap of thinking repetitious daily patterns define my life--and of course they don't. I'm not saying sabbaticals actually enlighten me lol, but it's like a reset button for my life.

It's difficult to leave to org because its a comfort blanket for me. Often I get the sweetest orgnots from various people, and on some days, it really truly cheers me up. You can't put a price on that experience. lol

Oh, and the butt, cock, and tittie pictures in orgnotes are great too. shrug

I was talking about sabbaticals in general, taking some time off to do other things or to go and find oneself rolleyes

It's always fun to see that all the time people spent floating around in monestaries and wearing orange robes and sandals all dissappears on just one train-ride on their first day back to work lol

What wrong that? I'm considering heading to the Chachoengsao retreat for a while in February if I possibly can. Spiritually I think it could help me get back on track. You're quite the cynic! lol

my goal is to have at least ONE substantial sabbatical before i retire.
