My mother used to live next to the Scottish guy. They were on the same community housing board. Pretty cool I think! Apparently he's a pretty nice bloke.

I bet he will be locally famous when he gets out. Well for a week anyway.

Ya know, I used to laugh when some American shows would subtitle Scots, but now I'm not so sure it's a bad idea. boxed Do people from other UK countries sometimes have difficulty with Scottish accents?

Does the show air every night? Is it always on at 9pm?

The big ginger guy's actually quite well spoken for a Scotsman. East coast, enuciates his vowels. My voice would sound like a chemo patient vomiting to you.

lol Yeah, well, generally the southern English have trouble with every other part of the country! It's the same as anywhere in the states with local accents, I mean they don't all talk like they do on tv news so they?! Well it's the same here. Not a lot you can do I suppose, get annoyed at people for not understanding or give them a chance and subtitle.

I don't know when it airs, probably every night yeah, it usually is...

I was in Glasgow and Edinburgh many a moon ago and didn't have as much trouble as I do now (although I found the accent very thick in the former).

None. We have no chance. Let's kill some celebrities then ourselves.

No matter how heavy the accent, all Americans and Canadians can understand all American and Canadian accents with no problem.

I should add that all other UK accents are no problem, either.

nod Yes, Glasgow is much thicker than Edinburgh. Generally the west is stronger than the east, although I am from 30 miles north of Edinburgh and the level of west coast mining immigration in the last few hundred years is reflected in our accents - I don't sound like I'm from Edinburgh! confused

Really? Even the ones who live in the arse end of nowhere? Hmm.

Well, we must just still have very thick dialects in our little separate countries. Funny how accents can stand the test of time in the age of global media and when we're so close together, geographically.

Me personally, as an English guy, would say it depends very much on what part of Scotland and how strong their accent is. Mind you, there are plenty of English accents that are impossible to decipher - A strong Geordie accent for example (i.e. someone from Newcastle, which is in the North-east) or even a particularly strong Liverpool accent.
This is not an exit

There is, of course, the occasional local colloquialism that's unfamiliar. But the accents? Yes.

Wait a minute, folks: we've diverged from the key questions I've posed in this thread:

1. What are the airtimes for this show?

2. Will you please, please keep the chick with the smokin' hiney on? beg
