Ruffling feathers Do you like to ruffle feathers? Do you find you do just because you speak your mind or because you think before you act? On the other hand, are you quite reserved and tend to hold back your thoughts? There's Joy In Expatriation.

Ex-Moderator | I don't like to ruffle feathers just for the sake of it, but I will if I think it's important, or maybe just to tease sometimes.
I don't think I'm reserved, but I choose how I deliver a message carefully. I really can't stand rude behavior. There's simply no excuse for it. I don't admire "brutal" honesty. There is a way to be honest and kind as well. |

If it's someone close to you and it affects your working or personal relationship, then perhaps--but show some class doing it.

Wait. Let me just point out in my response to Carrie, that my hatred of certain folks will completely trump my stance.
If I really hate a person, they're fucked.

If I really hate a person, they're fucked. oh wait. There's also degrees of dislike and hatred. If I just find a person boring, or I don't like them all that much, I won't bother to pay much attention to them. Who cares about my opinion, if they don't like me either? We'd just be yelling over each other.

No, I like to keep negative opinions to myself and prefer others to do the same. Humans should be silent, agreeable and subservant, keeping a tight lid on any pent-up hate. Swearing is also barbaric and is usually the first sign of a tiny intellect.

I usually don't "ruffle feathers" just to aggravate someone, but I do it quite often because I usually speak my mind. I'm not afraid to go against popular opinion. I have however done it on occasion just to get someone frustrated.
For the most part though it comes out of the fact that I'm just an opinionated person who isn't afraid to speak her mind.

There is a way to be honest and kind as well. What if a friend of yours asked your opinion of a dress that they really loved but you thought was horrific and would make them the subject of ridicule in public. Would you tell them? Depends on how well I know them. If I know them well, I could honestly say they look like a hooker and we'd laugh about it together, cause my freinds value my opinion. If I thought that would hurt their feelings, I'd simply say it's not my taste, but I can see how they like it, cause I probably would. Fashion's always in the eye of the beholder. |

I know I bite my tongue too much to avoid ruffling feathers.
I hate drama and I hate to make others feel bad. I know..I need to find a balance. I am working on that.
