best thing i can suggest is doing something you love doing
don't watch the weightloss or the amount of time spent doing it, just enjoy yourself, the weightloss will be a bonus

ideally, i'd love to lose around 50lbs by the end of this coming summer, but it wont' happen easily so if i dont make it i keep working on it because by then i'll have made some positive progress

and to do that i'll be belly dancing constantly starting this april, yoga this month till the end of school (and then back at the gym at home in the summer months), and using the treadmill at school as well (continuing at the gym at home too) nod

and when i get back to my house, my housemate and i are going to try going RAW for a week, to see if we like it, and if it's easy enough we'll keep it up woot!

that's another thing, it's always good to try something out with a friend to keep you motivated nod it helps a lot

good luck going raw!! Thats tough! I've been trying to go vegetarian for a while now but, I love seafood too much I think.

Also, bellydancing sounds fun! Theres a place near me that gives walk in sessions for $7 a class every Saturday and I was thinking about going
Have you doone it before??
If you will, so will I

well really i've been learning it from imago lol i asked him a few days ago to explain it to me and it's pretty much eating raw fruits and veggies for a short period of time
cooking fruits and veggies only diminishes the nutrients in them (eventho they're nice cooked too)
so we're going to buy a whole bunch of fruits and veggies (we're going to look for organic fruits/veggies as well) and make different things with them to keep it interesting nod

Once a week is a good check-in to measure your progress. Any more is silly, but less doesn't give you the reinforcement of seeing the small successes.

I agree totally, once a week works for me. Just enough to tell me how I'm doing, what's going right & where I'm fucking up exclaim

If I could get that female coach to work with me, I'd either end up with a perfect body, or one of us would probably end up in the emergency room

I'd be in the ER for sure nod

but they loose so much weight on there and here I am can't even loose a few pounds confused

Girl PLEASE do not judge yourself in comparison to them - they have nothing else to do ALL DAY for weeks at a time but focus on losing weight. They work out for HOURS, they're on a team & there's money involved - all kinds of incentives that we (with our jobs & kids & LIVES) don't have lol comfort

I think choosing a realistic/healthy way is best - adopting eating/exercise habits that you can keep up, it's the only way to keep it off in the long run...

My goal is to lose 10% of my weight. Then I will re-evaluate from there. Seems simple enough.

I have no motivation at all to lose weight. I dont really need to lose any weight. I would like to get in shape. I don't think I will ever be in the shape I was as a high school and college wrestler.

I have a class reunion this summer (end of July), so I will definitely be working on myself in anticipation of that.

I've already quit caffeine - sugar is next. And now that my play is over, I'll be getting back to the gym - Russian kettle bell training starts tomorrow! biggrin

That is so true. I go to Weight Watchers, in fact I'm headed there in a half hour, and that's what I do every week. I weigh in with them and see how I've done. It's very helpful.

I know in my situation, I need to lose about 55-60 pounds and I have to tell myself to take it one day at a time. I'm thinking that it's making small changes everyday, like today I had a salad with sun dried tomatoes and chicken for lunch instead of pizza. Stuff like that. The one thing I'm still learning not to do is beat myself up for not being where I want to be already. It's so damn easy to do that but it's all about being optimistic. I wish everyone here who's going through the weight-loss struggle a whole lot of success in 2008! We WILL do it!
