Call of Duty 4 is excellent, and I've just been playing Assassin's Creed and that's very cool.

NBA 2K8 is the best sports game, EVER!!

Also, pre-order Grand Theft Auto IV for your friend. He'll appreciate it. GTA IV will be the game of 2008.

Did they fix all the problems with Assassins Creed on the PS3? Last I heard it was bricking PS3s left and right.

Unreal Tournament 3 is out and looks good.

I bought Resistance at launch and MLB 2K8, nothing since then. Probably won't get another 'till June when MGS4 comes out. Everything is just better on 360, from the controllers to the way the games look and run.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

Well, the 12 year olds have spoken. That was a very articulate response to an honest observation.

If your bud is into platform games, Ratchet and Clank is fun, the graphics are beautifully done and the gameplay is smooth...the other suggestions are cool too...

I'm waiting for GT-HD to be released...downloaded the playable demo and I'm already hooked.....drooling

I really would buy him an Xbox 360. PS3 has proved itself to be nothing but an expensive folly so far. I can't see anything on the horizon to suddenly change that either.

I'm not the biggest fan of Microsoft, but at least they've invested money in the 360 in order to make it a worthwhile investment for gamers. Sony have just copied everyone else's ideas, been very arrogant and downright greedy by throwing in a Blu-Ray player and thinking that they're justified in charging a stupid amount for the machine cos obviously, everybody will buy a Playstation cos they're great rolleyes and it's backfired on them spectacularly.

And I think it's great that Nintendo's comparitively backward technology, but forward thinking, has pretty much won the competition.

Anyhoo, to answer your question, give him an IOU for Grand Theft Auto IV for when it gets released in April.

The Wii is great for party games or if you want a fun 10 minute gaming session sometimes. It has alot of instant gratification and Mario Galaxy is excellent as a more hardcore experience.

PS3 is a hardcore gaming machine with alot of multimedia features and much easier online gaming.

I'm not that much of an instant gratification person but I am very much into hardcore fun so I'll definitely look into the PS3.

Seriously, I really do wonder whether or not PS3 WILL last that long. It's like the Sega Saturn all over again: despite it's power, very difficult to program for (allegedly) and therefore will do nothing but push game developers towards the machines that are easier to make games for (360 and Wii).

Incidentally, there are some games on the Wii that have more depth than many of the PS3/360 games I've seen so far (as well as just as many potboilers, of course). Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition is one of the best games I've ever played, and Sonic and the Secret Rings is the best Sonic game since the original Megadrive platformers.

And I'd still champion the 360 over the PS3 in terms of longevity.

what I do like about wii that I've seen so far is the interactive games there seems to be more of them offered with wii than with PS3, though I don't know that for sure.

I totally agree, but by saying that you run the risk of someone calling you a poopy-head.

All of the game of the year type games are available for both platforms and most were developed with the 360 in mind. They run better and you don't feel like you're controlling them with a hollowed out toy controller.

Ok so I tried not to be geeky but I'm gonna be.

I work for a games company, and basically the PS3 is a nightmare to develop for. It has an unbelievably complex architecture coupled with minimal, piss-poor documentation and too little video RAM. That is why there's no games out for it right now compared to the 360 or the Wii. Not because it's a "new" console (bare in mind that the PS3 has been out for 1 YEAR now - these consoles are no longer next-gen, but current gen).

As for easy online connectivity mentioned by someone above, the Xbox is the clear winner there. Xbox Live - over 13 million users. CoD4 on xbox live? gamers everywhere. cod4 on ps3? NO GAMES AVAILABLE. Not a joke. Try it yourself.

Xbox 360 is the best console of all, both from a development and power perspective, because the power is easier to harness than the PS3.

That said, the PS3 *does* have better multimedia functions. The xbox is still better though.

Yes, the Xbox is the best console of the 3. Sales figures also reflect this.

I don't care, because my poopy-head will be throwing itself back and laughing callously, playing great games as those people head to the second-hand store, desperately trying to find hard to get used games for their prematurely out-of-date and over-priced games console.
