I'm at my parents and it's on downstairs. I wondered why they sang the Canadian anthem and had a big Canadian flag there when 2 US teams are playing.

NHL - has teams from Ca and USA

it is common at USA games for both countries to be honoured

lol

Yes, I know. But typically when 2 american teams play they only play the US anthem. Just like when 2 canadian teams play they only play the Canadian anthem.

No ... most the Red Wing games I have gone too and a couple of the Hurricane games ( us vs us ) they play both - they may not televise both (?) The games I went to in Denver and buffalo they played both as well

hmmm

They always sing both...it's just seems silly when both teams are american.

That's how we keep Canada in line. If you fuck up too much we'll take away hockey.

Ya, maybe they don't play both on tv.

Plus, I hardly ever watch hockey so what the hell do I really know?

My apologies.

This was so much fun even though Buffalo lost. The partying started over the weekend and hasn't really stopped yet. biggrin biggrin

All of the sports events in Buffalo play both anthems. There are as many Canadian Sabres fans who come to the games here as there are American ones. The only times they want the Sabres to lose is when they're playing the Leafs.

A little trivia for you- they sold 73,000 tickets in 40 minutes for this game.
They sold the rest very quickly and filled up the HSBC Arena also so there were almost 100,000 hockey fans here attending the game. cool cool

It was really great. Not that cold, you just have to dress in layers. But I'm out in the weather for a couple hours every day no matter what the temp is so I'm used to the cold.
