Unwanted Christmas Gifts

So you spent money on a nice gift and the recipient says to you.."oh well it's nice and all but I don't think i'm gonna use it. I see you have the gift receipt in here, i'm going to take it back and see if I can find something else I like in this store." So should you be mad?

Okay well yeah i'm talking about me here. I give my bf's parents a nice, top of the line waffle maker right, even bought them the pancake mix and syrup to go with it....so here my bf's mom talking about how she could use the mix but not waffle maker. I'm like "why"? Why wouldn't somebody not use a waffle maker? I just don't get it. I sought of knew she didn't like because I overheard her fussing about it in the background when I called my bf yesterday....he quickly put me on hold and smothered the phone. So right after I was like "so did your parents like their Christmas gift?"..he tells me "well I dunno"....liar. Then he tells me later on, "oh yeah they like it"...lying again.

I mean my feelings weren't hurt by it, his mom told me that if I really wanted her to have it that she would keep it, I was like, well if you don't want it, why keep it? Just get something else then.

So am i suppose to feel offended by this? Because at the moment I feel like "i really don't give a fuck, shit I gave them something for Christmas so that's all that matters"....but at the same time I'm like "how the fuck can you be so picky about a waffle maker?"

Your thoughts are welcome....
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I personally wouldn't want a waffle maker but I'd find use for it if I received it and I probably wouldn't return it even if I was given the gift receipt. I understand your frustration. I would be offended too. It truly is the thought that counts. Your present sounds like fun. I bought my bro and his wife a cocoa maker and bought all the cocoa, marshmallows, candy canes, syrup and cocoa mugs to go with it. They LOVED it. And they loved all the stuff to go with it too. They thought it was cute.

well i did offer to show her how to use it, but if she really doesn't want it, then why waste my time? I know exactly what to get her next year....NOT A DAMN THING.

And do you know what else she had the nerve to tell me? "Maybe I should keep the waffle maker in the box and save it for whenever you marry my son." Then she laughed like a maniac. I was like "wow, she said that?".

That was very sweet of you to buy your BF's parents a waffle maker, complete with the mix and the syrup. If somebody gave that to me, I'd be very happy! I love waffles! drool
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I'd love a waffle maker. She should send it to me. I remember one year my Aunt gave me toe socks. I usually don't wear socks, and I was telling her before I opened my gift that I didn't really like having anything warm on my feet. I felt bad after I opened it and saw that it was toe socks.....but she also had green tea body wash & a bath sponge in there, so it wasn't a total loss. I didn't get a chance to explain myself to her with the socks issue. I'll wear socks, but only for a short period of time, and I actually love the look of toe socks. I even own another pair, but don't wear them often. She probably thought I absolutely hated them.....and I didn't. They were actually cute socks that go well with these Mary Janes I have.

Oh god, this reminds me.....my mom broke the cardinal rule for any sports fan. She gave my brother a Carolina Panthers shirt. He hates the Panthers. lol It'd be a little bit different if he was indifferent to them, but to completely hate the team.....man. lol He'll be giving me that shirt, since they're my favorite team. See, my mom doesn't understand that you can't wear a team you hate. wacky Or maybe she just got our favorite teams mixed up this year.
