Just got this text from Jon:

Charlie Jonathan was born at 9.59am today, wieghing 7lbs 2oz. Mother and baby doing very well! Charlie is absolutely gorgeous, very alert and quietly assessing the world he has emerged into.

C-section?! OMG John! That means you have to do everything! I had surgery for apendicitis and a 2 inch cut took my ass down for a month! Get well honey and glad the baby is finally among us

Its all done and fine. I'm exhausted. Didnt sleep last night. But less about me. This is what you want to see ....




He's so cute and very observant. I'm sure he'll be walking by the end of next week.

We arrived at the hospital at 8.15 AM. The anethatist talked us through what was going to happen and at 9.50 we were in theatre ready for kick off. My job was to keep Ellie talking which was incredible fun. We talked about all sorts of things including discussing with the surgeons about our trip to Vegas last year and sitting with Prince and the band at the 3121 aftershow. They loved it all. By 9.59 Charlie was out in the big wide world. He didnt cry at all which was a little worrying at first but he was checked over and given the thumbs up by the crew. We then spent at least 30 minutes holding Charlie whilst Ellie was put back together. His eyes came wide open after 10 minutes and he kept staring at us. Beautiful. Gurgling baby talk but no crying. We then moved to a recovery room for a few hours and Mum and baby got to know each other. Still no crying! He just kept curling up and snuggling next to his mom. Eventually we landed on the delivery ward and that is where Ellie and her son will stay tonight and for at least a couple more days.

Quite an experience. Ellie was amazing. And the NHS staff were superb. From the cleaners to the head of the Maternity department they were all awesome and kept popping through the day to check out "the real cute baby".

I'm totally worn out with it now but will post some good pictures soon.

Thanks for all your support. That was a big thing that got us through the day.
