[Edited 12/29/07 7:21am] In that case i would say with all due respect that you really should delve a little deeper I prefer Chardonay, and white wines. There's great wine producers all over the world. Australian wines are under rated. Plus, French wine can be expensive in the US. Recommend a reasonably priced French white, and I'll try it!

There's always "beaujolais nouveau" day here in France each fall (which day I can't recall); it's fun, but we all know it's not seriously good wine...

CarrieMpls said: In general whites are chilled, reds are room temperature, but as Anxy said, there are reds that can be chilled.
If you're just starting out and prefer fruitier, sweeter wines, try a nice reisling in the whites and a nice shiraz for the reds. Once you start to appreciate those, you can move on to the less sweet stuff. Thanks for the suggestions because I only like sweet wines and since I only have three or four drinks in a whole year I don't need to be wasting time and money on some nasty dry wine and be stuck with another bottle till somebody comes over to drink it up. Right now I've got a bottle of Reunite Cabernet in the house that the previous owners left me when they moved out...9 years ago. I'm afraid to open it because it might be nasty, LOL! I have a bottle of Almaden White Zinfandel that my oldest son took a liking to so at least somebody's drinking that. It's been here for a year. I also got 2 bottles of Arbor Mist Sangria Zinfandel a couple of years ago...hasn't been opened. I bought me some Asti Spumante for New years! For Christmas I got a bottle of Amerula Liqueur and drank half a glass of it. It's real tasty but POWEEE! I was out like a light in half an hour. So, anybody wanna come over and help me out here? Or maybe I should just do some booze re-gifting. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

ME!! ME!!!
Actually, I don't drink other alcoholic beverage but the following: Wine; Margarita; and an occasionally Jack Daniels! LOL I did try a White Russian at a Christmas party, and it kicked my butt. Unfortunately though, I don't know much about wines. I do enjoy red wine. I enjoy Beaujolais Nouveau during the holidays. I just like trying various types of wine at restaurants.

Too bad you don't get good Languedoc wines (or rarely) in the US... I just see those monstrosities (red bicycle or whatever) that might make a good cheap vinegar (vinegar should be made with good wine as well ). There's fabulous things here down South that we just learn about through word of mouth, more or less... Roche Mazet is a recent discovery of ours; good value as well. There's Faugeres and Pic St. Loups that rival any Bordeaux.

Also, my wife wanted Arbor Mist Peach flavored wine... The Arbor Mist Peach was HARSH at first, but then we got used to it...not bad stuff. The White Merlot was nice...12% alcohol and you could taste it too... I would buy this one again, but I think I prefer more sweeter wine. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.
