Simple...in this order

French
Italian
Spanish
Israeli
South Africa

Clarets are a banker if you go for grand cru or premier cru.

Look at the vintages and educate your palate but in time you WILL be able to tell good years from bad and where they are from plus grape varieties and such.

Dont be fooled by price, there are some excellent vinages out there for £20 a bottle $40 if you are in the US.

Enjoy and learn HOW to taste the wine as it unfolds

Just bought a bottle of Beringer's White Merlot because a few of you guys suggested it...I'll get back to you on that.

Also, my wife wanted Arbor Mist Peach flavored wine...hmm

Hokay! I've purchased expensive wines, and my preference is Chards. I have a great wine store I use,the owner, who I've known for years, turns me on to wines of great value. Same quality. You'd be surprised at the wonderful wines available that because of surplus and whatnot, aren't expensive. Get a good connection.

I NEVER drink French wines, unless in France. They're over rated.

Just saying. France doesn't control the wine industry. The vines do quite well someplace else.

my favorite kind of wine is beaujolais because it's good quality wine for cheap, and because it's a red wine you can serve either room temperature or chilled. it's best if you buy it around october, but i think you can find it year 'round.

Love it.

"beaujolais nouveau" is all marketing, dudes...

(I swear I already posted on this days ago, but I guess that must've been another thread.)

I've become a wine-drinker recently. Always thought I hated it, but I've found that I really like it. It's a nice, relaxing buzz, too, and not as hard to drink as beer can sometimes be.

At the moment, I'm really liking Yellowtail merlot. Yeah, nothing fancy, it's pretty cheap, but it's good.

Argentinian wine from Mendoza is splendid. A Norton Merlot is particularly delicious on the palet.
