High School Reunion.

In october I went to a high school reunion with my dad.

My dad used to go to the same school only 30 years earlier.

It was amazing, I met some old friends I didn't talk to for more than 15 years.
I moved away from my hometown shortly after my graduation.

I met some girls that I used to have a crush on. One of them didn't even know
who I was. lol And she practically dominated my entire world at the time. hmmm

It's really weird to see that some people really change over the years.

Did you ever go to a High School reunion. What was it like?

My high school sent me my 10 year reunion invitation the same fucking week the stupid thing was supposed to take place.
I didn't even bother.

The 15 year reunion is looming I think , but i have little interest in going. I can't remember half the people I went to high school with. My sister pointed out folks at the mall who were in our high school a few years back. I had no clue who they were, but apparently at one time, according to her, I did. lol

I'd be interested in going to a high school reunion from the school that I eventually escapee from but didn't graduate from here in Alabaster Alabama, though.

I was severely on here by ALOT of people. I would love to beat some folks asses now. Though I can't remember who falloff

I can imagine you feel this way.

In my case, about half of town went to that same high school. At the reunion
there were about 3000 people. The best experience I had was not with people
from my own class but with people I knew from the gymnastics club or from my
sisters class. You know, people you didn't expect to meet ever again.

It was real fun, for one day.

I can see that, one day is all I probably could take. But my highschool does this week long thing, they are on a float in a parade etc etc...Small town stuff lol

I'm only coming up on 5 years since graduation, but I doubt I'd ever go to any high school reunion. I'm still in contact with most of the people that I was close to back then and I don't really have any desire to see anyone else shrug

Very cool Jochem biggrin

As for me...I never went to any of my reunions. I graduated from a huge school and the reunions were usually 3 day affairs on the beach. I really had no interest in seeing my school mates again. The ones I was really close to I stayed in touch with.

I attended my 30th class reunion a few years ago.(graduated in 1973) It's amazing how many people have died. There was a poster of deceased classmates. Causes of death: drug OD, AIDS, accidents....
My ex-boyfriend OD'd on coke. He was 48.

what a grim topic this seems to be neutral

well, i graduated in '04 (had a victory lap and actually left in '05)
and i dont think i'd mind going to a reunion later on shrug

i already know that half the girls that were popular aren't doing so well
but it's not what it's about really

i'd like to go back to see which teachers are still there - eventhough i do that whenever i can now

i don't know, i'm kind of excited for a 10 year reunion, if we even have one shrug

I don't know. seems it would be boring. if i was to attend it would be the 20th this year. I'm not to fond of attending something that dwells on the past. i'm a don't look back type of woman lol

The only reason that I didn't go to my High School Reunion is that my school had 5000 students. A lot of the people that replied to the Reunion, I didn't even know so I decided not to go.

I went to my fifth, tenth, fifteenth and 25th reunions. Skipped the 20th to play golf at Pebble Beach and Cypress Point.

I saw some guys at the 25th that I hadn't seen since high school and wanted to know what they were up to. So now that I know where everyone is, I'm done with reunions.

There was a quarterback at Kansas State named Ell Roberson III. I went to high school with his dad. His dad was a good football player, too. But even though I was an incredibly funky white boy even in high school, Ell and I didn't run in the same circles. He was an all-state football player, and I was 12th man on a 12-man, 3-win basketball team.

Ell got in trouble for something and went to prison. When his son played a game on TV, the announcers would always point that out.

One day about ten years ago (I was 38 then, to put it in context), I was in my old hometown mall for some unknown reason, and this African-American guy stops me and says, "Hey aren't you _____ _____?" I said yes, and he introduced himself as Ell Roberson.

I honestly don't remember ever knowing Ell in high school. Him recognizing me 20 years later in a shopping mall is something that just strikes a chord in me. I'll never forget it.

God Bless you, Ell Roberson, wherever you are.

I skipped out on my 10 year. My class had a bunch of stuck up bitches in it and I didn't want to deal with it. And to be honest, I felt really self conscious about my life. I've gained a bit of weight since then, not that I was ever thin. And I'm still single and have no children. About the only thing I felt I had going for me was that I owned a house. I'm not sure why I cared so much about what they thought. confuse

I did end up seeing some pics from the event and let's just say I'm not the only one that has put on some weight. lol

well, i don't know if i'll go to mine or not in 2010...right now i say yes, but my mind changes like the wind blows..so who knows.

as far as my bf, he and everybody and i mean everybody he went to high school with get together once a year every year since they graduated. They are just close like that. I always look at it like its a rare thing, because I don't even think i want to see the people i went to high school with even that much. But they love it.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

When I graduated high school I vowed to never go to the reunions. But the one and only friend I'm still in contact with was well liked and liked school so she talked me into going to the 5 year reunion. Barely anybody was there because it was planned last minute on Thanksgiving weekend. But everyone was pretty much the same so it was boring. Sadly most everyone remembered me and I didn't remember anyone's name. I do have a bad memory though. I think I'll go the 10 year just for curiosity sake. That one is coming up in 2 years.

I went to my 20th in 2006 and had a blast. Though I moved far away immediately after high school and rarely came back, I was ready to connect with people. I went with the intention of connecting with people who I could never have connected with in high school. My goal was to see those old boundaries dissolve. I ended up talking to almost everyone, in depth, whether I remembered them or not. It was very fulfilling. As I get older, it is more important to me to get closer to my past. I actually have several good friends now, who shared that time in my life, but whom I didn't even know back then. I think it's a great example of how life changes and gets richer as time passes.

I skipped my class reunions, but I did go to the 15 year reunion of the class that graduated one year ahead of mine. I grew up in a small town and am friends with/stay in touch with more of the guys from that class than my own classmates. It was alright.
