I strongly dislike mine...the pace is too slow, it's as about as challenging as a game of tic tac toe and it certainly isn't gonna make me rich anytime soon...but I'll be looking for a job in the field that I'm used to real soon...the past year here has given me a chance to kinda decompress and relax...my old line of work was very demanding, on call 24/7, no set hours, and lots of traveling...I miss it...

no like right now...I have to vent.

Friggen today we have no one coming in our office there are a total of 5 people out of 30 plus people in our office today. I have absoloutely nothing to do...and I literally lost my voice and its really raspy and I'm straining it to talk. And my boss keeps going out for cigarrette breaks, piss breaks, sh*t breaks and its like wtf so here I am answering about six calls at the same time answering stupid questions like when does the mail go out LIKE WTF THIS ISNT THE POST OFFICE. Omg I'm so fed up I feel like walking out. On top of that I can't take my lunch because there "arnt enough admins" in the office to watch the phones are you effing kidding me. I'm not getting paid overtime and then my other manager just walked out this morning he came in and quit and itsli ke uhhhhh are you serious.

I hear ya. Except I'm beyond the 'hate with a passion'. Now I'm completely apathetic. I can't even be bothered to get annoyed with anything, I simply do not care.

During my second most recent performance review I received a minimum "successful" grade on everything, and a few "highly successfuls". I asked how that correlated to salary and was told, "It doesn't." So I was like, "Fuck it, I'm not gonna bust my ass anymore when it literally doesn't pay." I started embracing mediocrity and only doing the bare minimum required to get my job done. On my most recent review I got a merit increase (eg. 3% raise). So all my slacking paid off!


I've been looking/applying for a different job for over a year and a half and haven't had much luck. (Only a few interviews and only one offer.) Anyway, sorry you hate your job. Get your resume together and start sending it out.

I have a job as an amazon turk. I do little odd jobs like categorizing blogs and contributing to stories and personal opinion pieces. It pays chump change, but it's really up to the contractor on how much is made. I create my own hours, basically. I chose this temporarily to avoid the hatred of the common job. I'll insert myself in the rat race when I'm ready to graduate.

...or not. It depends on how much I make.

I adored my last job but the reality was that it was not paying nearly enough for me to be comfortable. I start a new job in Jan and it's almost 3x the pay but a very cool working environment, very similar to my last job.

So, ya...I've hated jobs in the past but not recently.

2008 is going to be my "what color is my parachute" year, because i'm getting really tired of the work i've been doing for the past 8 years and the thought of doing it ten years from now makes me want to jump off a cliff.

i'm not sure how one goes about figuring out "transferrable skills" and smart, calculated risks for career changes, but i'm ready to do it. i miss having a workplace where i can relate to my co-workers and where i can feel good about the work i do. when i hear my friends talk about work, it's so depressing because the last thing i want to do is re-live my workdays when i'm supposed to be having fun. i'd love to start bragging about my job again, even if i was just a store clerk somewhere. i'm hoping by the end of 2008, i'll be on the way to making that happen...
