HEY! Twin Cities .Orgers and Music Fans!!! CONCERT!!!! Hey there all you Twin Cities .Orgers and fellow music fans...there's a cool show coming up that I wanted to bring to your attention...read this press release:
Press Release CD Baby artists establish TourBaby: a National Tour of the Best Local Music NEW YORK - A new kind of tour is coming through St. Paul - a concert put on by the best independent musicians in the area. Although "TourBaby" will cross 43 cities in four months, each show will be comprised of top local artists instead of a single touring lineup. Why the unique approach? Hundreds of musicians are banding together to raise awareness of independent music: the music you don't hear on mainstream TV or radio. TourBaby aims to highlight top local bands and artists of all musical styles and genres, and to introduce these musicians to a broader cross-section of the communities. The St. Paul leg of TourBaby will specifically highlight outstanding female vocalists. "We're out to call attention to all the great music that's right under your nose in your local community," is how the organizers of TourBaby see it. "TourBaby is an intimate connection between artist and fans." said founding member Dave Mann. "It's a grassroots co-operative effort created entirely by musicians. Each TourBaby concert is organized by the artists in that local community. These musicians all met through CD Baby, a popular online record store for independent artists." TourBaby hits St. Paul on Friday, October 25th 2002 at Turf Club - 1601 University Ave, St. Paul, MN 55104 651.647.0486. Show at 9, doors at 8. The performing artists will be Keri Noble, Dallas Johnson and Atreyu’s Quest. Keri Noble is a recent transplant from Detroit, where her original songwriting and absolutely unforgetable vocal talent earned her three Detroit Music Award nominations. Keri is managed by Miki Nord and Blue Sky Artists (Johnny Lang, Susan Tedeschi) and is undoubtedly destined for stardom. Dallas Johnson has been a figure on the Twin Cities scene for 15 years (with a 7 year stint in New York City) and has collaborated with too many artists to mention. She pulls together influences from jazz, R&B, reggae and soul to deliver a seemingly effortless top notch vocal performance on her original material. Atreyu’s Quest is a duo that features singer-songwriters Amber Sparks and Bryant Switzky. They were recently finalists in the Heart and Soul Best New Twin Cities Band Contest, and have been gaining fans by the score across the Midwest. Amber has an exceptional voice, and when coupled with Bryant’s innovative harmonies, the result is truly inspiring. Tickets for this event are only $5. For information, directions, or to hear MP3s of every artist performing, go to http://www.tourbaby.com. Keri Noble, Dallas Johnson, and Atreyu’s Quest are all available for interviews. Call Bryant Switzky at 651.308.6902 or email booking@atreyusquest.com. TourBaby is sponsored by CDBaby and Disc Makers SAINT PAUL ORGANIZER: Bryant Switzky - (651)308-6902 PUBLICITY: Dawn Kamerling - The Press House - (617)513-7147 OFFICE: Jamie Chvotkin - TourBaby HQ - (503)256-8500 WEB: http://www.tourbaby.com I am definitely going...I like Atreyu's Quest, although I am very biased. (my fiancée is in the band...) I've never seen Dallas Johnson, but I've heard some of her recordings and I've been VERY impressed. Keri Noble is fucking amazing. She plays a lot around the Twin Cities, and you should DEFINITELY come see her at this show if you haven't caught her yet! She's FANTASTIC!!! I've also heard that Grant Hart (spell check?) from Husker Du (spell check again) is playing at the Turf Club that night as well...after the first three acts' separate 45-minute sets. Don't hold me to it, but the word I heard was 99% sure... If you're free that night...come check it out...whether you like urban-folk, R&B, funk, edgy piano-based material, etc...your time will be well spent! Pass this info along to other Twin Cities music fans...other friends...other supporters of good local music... "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I'll shout the drinks. Sound like a good deal? If you can stuff your ass into a giant, cardboard box I will gladly pay to have you shipped to MPLS in time for the show. Just remember to poke some airholes in the proper places, and to bring enough beer. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Just remember to poke some airholes in the proper places, and to bring enough beer. It's a deal! Warning though, I'll probably drink all the beer before I get there. I better make it a water proof box. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

booking@atreyusquest.com. How do other cities on this "tour" manage to squeeze in 7, 8 or more (New Orleans has 15!!!) acts performing! And why didn't he get back to me when I tried to get on the bill?

I helped him narrow down the acts...from a giant list of prospects...they're only 45-minute sets...arranging more time was not really possible with the Turf Club, sadly. From what I gather, each stop of this "tour" is very different from the others...with varying themes, etc.
I just missed your performance at the Fine Line a few weeks ago...my best friend's band played immediately after you, and I was late for his set as well! It sucked, as I wanted to catch you playing live... "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

which band? They were called "The Profits." Now they are called "Number Eff" or something like that. I don't recall exactly what they changed their name to... "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Halfway through the set they stopped, and made a big announcement that the band was now called "The Number F", A very strange and interesting band. They're playing at the Uptown on Saturday with Happy Apple!

Yeah...they're a really fun band to see play. Especially when they have time to do a full set. I'll sadly be in Madison, WI this weekend to visit my future in-laws, so I won't be able to catch them. But go to their show if you can!!! "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Perhaps he's doing some of those enlargment exercises. -------
