I HATE BOB JOHNSON!!! When "I" say I HATE BOB JOHNSON....I mean it because he sold out his potentially progressive black folks by selling BET to Viacomm so they could systematically do completely away with intellectual programming only to inundate our highly vulnerable and supremely highly impressionable black youth with GARBAGE PROGRAMMING!! Sad to say...some of you ADULTS are in along with this bunch!!
I hate Bob Johnson...because at one time when BET was breaking ground and staking a claim for black television....He just SOLD US ALL OUT to go buy a fucking SPORTS franchise!!! Nice example to set to our fucked up black youth who already are channelling their dreams into Rapperdom and Sports....way to go Bob Johnson....you FUCKER!!! Jumpin of my soapbox!! P.S. I know he has contributions with Ebony and Jet and all the employees and commerce he has created and so on....but at a time where the television rules some black households...we have ENOUGH UPN'S AND NOW TV ONE'S to turn to....He had a chance to make history and make a difference with BET!! HE CAN GO TO HELL FOR ALL I CARE!! The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them. -- Mark Twain.

Dex you are so right for this!!! He is the Black KKK for real!!! It sickens me. Dont forget Essence magazine is owned by Whites now, why cant we have our own intelligent things and not depend on anybody?? It is the 21st century and we are still begging at the White man's table instead of thinking for ourselves.
This is the reason I read and listen to NPR becasue I can't stand the images of us in the media at all.

Hell, I used to like MTV for what it "USED" to be. Bob's Johnson was the mindset to get a nice "Ass Slam" in the enema of monetary circumstances by philosphical and worldly "Banked-In" proportions. He wanted his "OWN" piece of "The Globe's Pie". And, in some fashion, one can see him as a smart "BUSINESSMAN". But, for "THE GREATER GOOD OF ALL ENTERTAINMENT", he is no sympathizer or Ambassador for his race. One could argue that Viacom has ruined the lot of what used to be that remedy to block out all sensors of negative energy and vices in our life. That genre of entertainment that was....."MUSIC!!!" Hell, Viacom should be the ones to go to hell.

I feel you but BET's programming began to slip before Bob sold to Viacom.
I think some attempts are being made to change BET's programming. I'm so the yin to your yang.... shine and the rain....

I think some attempts are being made to change BET's programming. I'm so the yin to your yang.... shine and the rain.... How so? They got rid a few shows before the sale. They are starting to dumb down because they were moving towards "lifestyle" programming. I understand Dex's frustration but there's more blame to pass around. [Edited 12/21/07 12:18pm]

And, could you name at least "ONE" of these shows? What? The original Rap City with Joe Cleese and Big Tiffany? Video Soul Gold? BET Reggae (Man, Rachel was so beautiful. But, I digress! *Clears Throat*)?

I"m not saying that Viacom isn't at fault for the awful crap that's on BUT that the programming was a gradual change.

Anyway, who was that other gorgeous woman that used to host Video Soul Gold with Donnie Simpson? And, about the whole "LESS NEWS/MORE ENTERTAINMENT SPECTRUM", they were still reporting news as far as I could remember. That lasted all the way up until maybe 2004. I've always wondered just why Tavis Smiley was taken off air, so randomly. I preferred him over that other guy.
