When it comes to controversial topics, do you prefer to debate, argue or flame?

I like to debate... and in debating there will often times be fine opportunities for people to get really pissed off at you (especially those who you are not even talking to) and flame you, whereupon you can reply in kind.

I love the art of debate.

I enjoy debating, when it's a topic I like to discuss, of course. Debate opens oppurtunities to flame.

I definately prefer to debate.

Flames are fine, if both parties find it fun. (joking and kidding around)

Arguing? Complete waste of time, because the people involved have stopped listening to each other.

I've jumped down a couple people's throats here at the Org, but mostly like to debate. Frankly, i grew up in family full of arguers and debaters(my bro and i were both on the debate team), and we still can't get together without a full fledged screaming match.
Which is funny cuz i never argue with my girlfriends or my friends at all.
Signed, master-debater. wink

Debating is fun but can be tiring when the other party keeps going on a tangent or gets into minor details that are not at the core of the issue, just to appear like he/she is still on solid argumentative ground. Past a certain point, it becomes fruitless, and you can either "argue to disagree" or "agree to disagree". If it gets to contempt, then I can flame with the best of them, though these days I rarely think it's worth the effort. I am always willing to make an exception for those who continually abuse other posters, provided the contempt is sufficiently blatant.

I DO like to debate but sadly I have no found a single person on this website who is actually able to hold a sensible conversation so I usually result to flaming arguing because that's all most peopell seem to understand on here... If anyone actually CAN hold a sensible debate, let's get it on !@

Out of the three offerings, I will only debate.
BUT
I really like discussions where individuals give
their opinions, express their feelings, offer information
and listen to others do the same. In discussions,
none need be at odds nor come out as winner.
So...how's everybody doing? smile

I prefer to debate...I am not a good debater though. Upon reading your posts about certain topics here on the org Icenine, you're a damn good debater and quite intelligent, whether I agree with you or not...and most of the time I don't.
