Please, I'm the one who stated it was parity in the other football thread and you followed along by responding to my post. It's still there. Once you understand how to comprehend what I've posted then you'll understand. The Chargers couldn't win a thing with that defense 20 years ago or now. Listen to Winslow, he was on the team, he knows. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

The Charger offense was much more vertical in that they more times than not relied on long bombs from Fouts to his receivers. Montana was a percentage passer (unlike Fouts), i.e. short passes to his receivers and runners. It was extremely common that he'd throw a short 8-12 yard pass and either Rice or Taylor would run it 65-70 yards for a touchdown. THAT is not the same thing as the offense the Chargers were renowned for. Even if only a little different. Bill Walsh would tell you the same, and he's the guy credited TODAY for the so-called west coast offense. Credited. Check the history of both teams and you'll see the finer points of the differences in their offense. They're there. And the most important thing you're dismissing (even if only in your mind) is that the Chargers never had a defense the equivalent of ANYONE who ever won a Super Bowl. As fabled as their offense was 20 years ago, their defense was equally as fabled for their inability to keep anyone from scoring. They never stopped anyone, they had to outscore their opponents, and that only takes you so far. Therein lies the difference. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

"You see thats the problem nowadays, No loyalty, Just cheer for the winning team, All bad wageners!! just because Jerry rice, give me a break!!! I like alot of different players but that doesnt mean i like there team. Pick a team and stay with it!!! Chargers BABY!!!"
hey hey hey hey hey! I've been an EAGLES fan since 86 & we've certainly had our share of disappointing games & seasons! My second favorite team is the Chargers, going back to the days of KELLEN WINSLOW, my all-time favorite TE (I have a SD Winslow jersey).. lookahere: the Rams (in my never-to-be-humble opinion) are (still) done for this season.. this "reconstituted" NFC East is about as weak as it's going to be.. the Pack just lost Favre for who knows how long.. the Saints are about due for a "reality check" (=loss) if the Eagles don't go to the Super Bowl this year.. WHEN THE HELL ARE THEY GOING TO??? I am & have always been LOYAL to my favorite team(s), but sometimes I have more than 1 favorite team in the same sport, or I'll root for a team in a certain game.. but for me & the NFL, it's always: 1. EAGLES 2 Chargers I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS.. | |

mistermaxxx said: what you mean I tried My Best? talking about the West Coast offesense&Where it came from I brought it up.Don Coryell,Bill Walsh&Joe Gibbs were all under Paul Brown in Cincy.did you bring that Point up?
Predictable. Another deviation from my initial point, which had NOTHING to do with where it came from. You went from point A to point G (which I did follow a long a bit). You can't stay on topic to save your life. Which is why I lost interest and cut it short. Your shot at football 101 is noble and all, but you'd first have to have reading comprehension 101 if you want to hang with me, because the lack of comprehending my original point happens WAY too often.
