Have You Ever Returned A Christmas Gift That You Did Not Like? I never have, for fear of hurting the person who gave it to me. But I have been tempted to do so on several occasions. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

nope.
I appreciate everything given to me. That's not to say I like everything. But, I appreciate the effort and thoughts behind them. I've never returned anything, nor re-gifted.

That's a good attitude to have, being appreciative as to what people give you. I'm lucky in that most times, the gifts I receive are good ones, ones that I actually like and can use. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

My relatives are shockingly bad when it comes to buying us presents. They were dire this year too with the purchase of a guide to 'Britain's Churches' for my Mum and Dad and an Oasis DVD for my Dad who has no passing interest in Oasis! Last year, what should they buy my Dad in the way of literature...
What the fuck are they thinking!?!?!?! There's Joy In Expatriation.

I think being a project manager, it's always natural for me to set expectations up front with folks. If they ask me what I want for Christmas, I always answer "I like paperback books". This is good cause the gift is #1) normally less than 10 dollars, and #2) something I always enjoy. Regardless of the genre, it's something to read, and so its never a "miss" with me. More elaborate presents, I can always just save up and buy myself.

Which makes it easier, because you know exactly what you want and where to get it. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Definitely! As long as the book is something that interests me, I'm cool with it. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I tend to keep whatever is given to me, but I usually end up returning most clothing that is given to me. I think that I must look smaller than I really am because I always end up with something that is too small and also, I refuse to wear anything that says something stupid, like "Baby Gurl" on it. I don't know where my relatives get the idea that I'd wear some of the things that they've given to me.

I hear you on that, I wouldn't wear anything that said Baby Gurl on it either. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I appreciate what I get. If it is something I cannot use I will give it to charity rather than throw it out.
When I buy gifts I include the gift card so if it is something they don't like or cannot use, then they can go to the store where it was purchased and exchange it for something they like better. i do but very rarely but take this year for example i was given 3 dictionaries (different types) from my grumpa which i had kinda asked for because i asked for a good dictionary meaning a big one with long words in to help me with my uni work, so rather than have 3 small ones which i wont use as they arent good enough, i would rather take them back and swap it for the one i need and he wont mind me doing so he would rather i took them back and got what i needed so the money wasnt wasted than keep something i wont ever use
also sometimes if i am given a smellies set or something i dont like i would pass it on, i would make sure it was to someone in a completely different group of friends so the person who originally gave it would never know i dont think this makes me bad With Love there is no Death

I usually try to make do with what Santa sends me.
For instance, I put a deer trap up on my roof last night & was able to snare one of Santa's reindeer. This year, I will be having a Christmas barbeque using all the coal that Santa has has been leaving in my stocking over the years. And, since rumour has it that Santa is not only a Prince fan, but also an orger of the lurking variety, Kringle, if your reading this, you're invited. I have a big meaty Dasherburger with your name written all over it, you pompous, fat, old yuletide fuck...

Giving unwanted items to charity is a great idea. I do it all the time, and it always makes me feel good. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
