Does anyone hate Xmas? Crass commercialisation, debt, excess....all the rest?

Normally I love Christmas....but I have to say, this year, is a hard year. And to be honest..I could probably skip this one.

People hate the commercialism and excess...they don't actually hate Christmas itself.
And the point is the same that it's always been...just up to each individual as to how they choose to experience it. Best Xmas of my adult life was one in which our family had next to no money, so we just spent what we had on food and cooked a huge dinner, drank some wine, and spent our day together as a family. No gifts, just family and a lot of laughter (and a lot of food lol). | |

I do. I don't celebrate it in the fist place I just don't like it. Everyone gets so phony and they pretend to like you and fell bad so they give you gifts anyway...and I don't get it. Everyone is so happy and nice to one another for ONE DAY or one week or one month. What about the rest of the year? I'm the type of person who will get a gift for someone randomly and through out the year. I don't think its necessary to wait once a year to be nice. And if I don't like someone why would I be a hypocrite on one day just to show some xmas spirit. And don't get me started on the background of the holiday.... | |

I've never been a fan, but I'm starting to like it. I'm tired of people bitching about it so I have started to embrace it. Anything that pisses off Bill O and the Christian nutters is A-OK in my book.
I'm going to spend a couple extra hundred today and tell everyone "Happy Holidays!" If they tell me "merry christmas", I'll punch them in the crotch. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Does anyone feel like, what the hell is the point anymore? I don't hate Christmas. There are some really wonderful things like seeing my boys excited about Santa coming, the food, making cookies. Just being lazy and relaxing. Watching the lights on the tree and all the houses. Listening to Christmas tunes... BUT, I do hate all of the stores being crowded, the insanity that possesses people to fight for toys. I don't think I could ever hate Christmas though. | |

Hate is a strong word. I hate what Christmas has become.
I hate that I am away from my family this year. I hate that it is not going to be the traditional Christmas that I am used to but I love finding new traditions. I hate that a dear friend of mine lost his father so close to Christmas. I hate to use the word hate.  | |

I don't "hate" Chirtmas but I never really cared for it. Even more today as an adult. Some people think I'm kinda cute

I am not sure if I would go as far as hating it, as there was a time when I was young and at school and enjoyed the fact that we got two weeks holidays. Over the years I have always hated the commercial and superficial side which is notorious in GB and Ireland, and I expect in America as well. The best xmas´s I have had in the last 10 yrs were in the south of Austria. There it is celebrated on the evening of the 24th and is much more focused on family rather than the commercial side of it.
Although I do miss the xmas eve get togethers with old school friends in Ireland and resembling the holy ghost on xmas day  If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.
