I Changed my Schecter's passive pickups with active EMGs!! After getting my Black Cloud (Camille) with Active EMGs

I kinda didn't play with my White Cloud (Anastesia) , 
because it didn't sound as good by comparison. Now, I started feeling guilty about that so I decided to give Anastesia some corrective surgery by replacing those passive stock pickups with the active EMGs. I followed the instruction that was so graciously posted by Eargasm to help me along with the upgrade. Here are the original pickups (Duncan Design): 
As stated in the instructions, I removed the strings and the bridge so that I can have access to the pickups. 
I then flip the guitar over and removed the backplate: 
With my soldering gun, I removed all the wiring from the installed pots and jack: 
I unscrewed the pickups from the body and replaced them with Ivory EMG pickups. 1x SA at the neck 
and 1x 81 at the bridge 
I retained the stock humbucker frame.....I just didn't feel like buying a new one. LOL In the instructions, it said that I could put the gold washer and nut from the original jack on the EMG jack, the jack was way 2 big so that part is silver....which is fine with me because when it's plugged in, U can't see it anyway. 
I proceeded to solder all the wires to where they needed to be according to the chart provided by EMG. This was pretty easy considering it was my first time doing anything like this by myself.....I usually have someone else do the electronics on my other guitars. I am proud to say that Anastesia was not harmed during this procedure and she worked the 1st time out. She does have a different tone.... I'm assuming it's because she's a different wood. Any1 know what kind of wood Schecter used? Anyway here she is all healed and functional: 
I suggest everyone with a Schecter should upgrade to active pickups (EMG super suggested because they are easier to install). The sound difference is incredible. [Edited 12/19/07 8:52am] Peace&BeWild | |

Those look like little guitars. Not surprising I guess. 've never gotten a chance to play one, I've always wanted to try one out.
Also, aren't the real ones made w/ a glued on neck? My Legacy

They are small compared to a strat.
They were offered 2 different ways. The first batch were all bolt on. A couple of years later, they offered the neck thru body. U can tell the difference by the fret markers: The bolt-ons have the symbol fret markers. The Neck thru bodies have dot markers. [Edited 12/19/07 15:47pm] Peace&BeWild | |

Very nice and congrats. Mind me asking how much they were and where you got them??? They're very cool. I don't have the courage/balls to play a one of those. I'm afraid someone would think I was copying Prince. Plus, I'm not very comfortable unless I'm playing a Telecaster-shaped guitar.... Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together | |

The White Cloud I lucked out.....a guy in MPLS needed money for college so he was selling it cheap (kinda), so I bought it. It was posted on Craig's List. The Black Cloud I got from a guy in MPLS. He got it made from Rezarx (he had a bad story, such as fake EMGs, bad paint and cheap hardware.), and he corrected all the problems. He wanted 2 buy a new guitar so he sold this one off. Awesome. I think Prince used 81s in his Clouds.
I swapped out my American Standard Strat's stock pickups for some stacked humbuckers, a couple of years ago. Soooo much more power, yet still articulate and nuanced and transparent.  Congratulations!!!  Rock on. | |
