Anyone Travelling for the holidays?

Saturday morning I will be embarking on a six hour drive down to Jacksonville for a long overdue family celebration with Mom and my brother! The "three" of us have not all been in the same place for Xmas in almost fifteen years!!! He was in the Navy, I was overseas playing ball and traversing the world....

Good Times 4 All...and I get to spoil my niece who is now a freshmen in College!! I can't believe she challenged me to a wrestling match on the beach!!! LOL!!

I love my family!!

Yes my eldest and her husband will stay the night here on Christmas Eve, because she likes to get up at the crack of dawn Christmas morning. lol Youngest daughter and her bf won't be able to come over until the evening for a couple of hours. They both have to work. sad

As for gifts..this lady hasn't bought a thing for Xmas yet! boxed Hopefully I can get started tomorrow.

Thank God we are not traveling, I can't even imagine how much traffic there will be. But I will be going to my uncles house Christmas Eve and celebrating there with my moms side of the family. They live like 30 minutes away smile

drive 2 hours to my aunts for at least part of christmas...
then before new years either drive or fly to my sisters.
8 hour drive rolleyes but the plane tickets are ridiculously expensive.
i used to make the drive up to my other sister's too but that just gets nutty
driving all over the damn place. some christmas i would like to be the one who stays home.

You know me, I love long drives, but I can see how driving completely alone can get a tad bit tedious. Do you have a CD player in your car? Maybe you could listen to great music and audio books?

8 hours is usually no problem for me by the way, especially if I take breaks every now and then. The drive to my mum's country place in Norway is around 10 hours and I've become very used to that, which helps. It's usually the inexperienced drivers that whine the most. Which is why you shouldn't whine at all. wink

i can do the drive no problem and don't mind the time alone tease
what i don't care for is the time it takes away from your time actually at the destination.

at christmas time everyone wants a piece of you and get their nose out of joint if you don't jump at the chance to go visit neutral it just starts to feel like an obligation sometimes. i am aware how incredibly selfish that sounds. lol
