Has anyone ever lived celibate?

I'm wondering. How many of you out there have tried a serious time of celibacy?

Be it for religious reasons.
Be it to save yourself for the RIGHT man instead of the NEXT man.
Be it to heal after a broken relationship or divorce.

And when you ended this period of celibacy.
Did you experience it like you were making love for the very first time all over again?

I'll elaborate about my personal experience later. Let me hear you first. smile

On purpose??? No.

I went almost 18 years without it, and I wanted it real bad then, and now that I've done it and haven't had it in almost a month, I REALLY miss it....I was better off before I knew what sex was actually like. I went 18 years without it, though, I can go without for a while, but man does it suck disbelief
Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

LOL! No I don't mean involuntarily LOL smile

I mean when you personally chose not to be intimate for a while.

It must be frustrating not to be able to have sex when you want it. Don't you have a blackbook that you can open and browse through? You know... from past men you dated? (Just making a suggestion) smile

I am currently living celibate. It's been about a year (minus 1 small slip up. redface ). It is a conscious choice. Women (and gay men) are in the position of being able to find sex pretty much any time they want it and without lowering their usual standards. But I discovered along the way that any time I want it isn't really good for me. lol I decided a while ago since that wasn't working, until I found the right relationship sex was off the table. It's not that I don't want it, just that I haven't found anyone worthwhile to date. And damn it, it's been far too long!! mad lol

I did it for the same reasons.
After 1 year and 11 days I chose to have sex again last night though. It wasn't with just anybody. And it was like I was loosing my virginity all over again biggrin

YES!

Sometimes it's like taking control of your life as in fasting.

Sometimes it's like starving to death trying to find food in an empty refrigerator.

Yeah, as a JW I have been celibate except with the partner I married.

I'm fine with how things have worked out. I feel it gave our relationship more depth.

Voluntarily still am. Have no plans for it to be permenant, but it's not my primary focus. I know what I need and what I want.

I've done this after every time I was involved with someone. First time was 9 years, then probably about 4 years, then 5 years.
I've done this because I did not believe in casual sex, and because it was hard for me to let go. It's also hard for me to open up to people, so it took time until I found someone who I let in.
And yes, doing it after so long feels like the first time, for me.

I chose that path 4 years ago this January.... no regrets in the least. I learned more about myself and what I really want in this time period then ever..... I didnt for the life of me think I would go this long but I just havent yet been in the right situation. I want to ( as much as one can) be in a solid relationship with the right person not just any person.

I think I'm over sex. Too much attendant drama. I would suggest this instead:

Did you ever hear that Joe Rogan bit, on his album, called "Jerk Off First, Safe Zone"? I'll paraphrase:

'There should be, like, billboards on the sides of buses, saying "Jerk off first, then think about it" and a picture of a guy with a boner and chick yelling at him and he's holding a baby.'

He gives his son a heads-up:

'You see, Billy, that's just your body playing a biological trick on you, trying to get you to make more people! ...I know...I know you're only 13, but that shit is left over from when we were monkeys and you had to make a baby as quick as you could!'

He then goes on to teach him the best way to masturbate.

falloff

I'm not religious.
I'm not into men.
I haven't been in a relationship in years.

My only form of celibacy is better described as an undesired dryspell. wink
