External storage: How many Gigabytes do I need?

My computer can't handle the amount of music I've got, so I'm going to purchase an external hard drive for my media. For about 1000 albums, what do you guys think?

Well a regular mp3 song is around 5MB, and if we assume that a regular album has around 12 songs on it, then 1000 albums would mean 60 GB. My external hard drive is 200 GB though, so I back up my entire computer (and more) onto it. It feels safe and is very handy since I never have to delete anything at all out of lack of space. You might want to consider that if you're ready to shell out for it.

My heart can't handle the amount of love I've got for you, so I'm going to purchase an external hard drive for my love. For about 1000 hugs and kisses, what do you guys think? smile

It's worth it to back those babies up twice just to be on the safe side. Or even thrice.

250, 4 Me. But, depending on how filled its space is, it could be easily be smoked-out like Ekrich. Gotta learn to preserve power and energy in the anti-desert.....

Anybody recommend a brand? Between Consumer Reports, PC Mag, and Amazon, I'm a bit undecided.
