Does anybody have a Wii Game system? Is it worth the money? Does it really seem like virtual reality? I was thinking about buying one.

More than worth the money.
The one I bought for my nephews was so much fun.

Ex-Moderator | I don't have one, but I've played before.
I'm not much for video games, but it's actually quite fun. I played Guitar Hero at work for the first time yesterday too, and my co-worker was impressed I made it through an entire song my very first try. At the end of the song the game told me I ROCK! |

It's nowhere near virtual reality, but it isn't trying to be. It is a very simple game system with fun and unique controls. Great for parties and some fun single player stuff too.
I wouldn't pay more than retail for one though. The only way to get one right now is by scalper or if you can get to a gamestop today and they aren't sold out already you can pay full price today for a DVD case that says you'll get a Wii in January. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Hopefully they are fun and worth the money. We got one for our kids this Christmas.
The one tip I have heard is wear the wrist strap for the hand held controls or you could end up throwing it through the tv. Apparently, it's not just a funny commercial. I'm firmly planted in denial

Does anyone know when/where they'll be back in stock?

I was going to buy one for my son this Christmas. I couldnt find any, so I bought the PS3. I like the idea that there are more kid type games for the Wii but I am going to enjoy the Blueray player that comes with the PS3.

I got one recently at the Best Buy in Atwater Village.I was buying gift certificates for Christmas and one of the Cashiers casually mentioned to another that a shipment just came in. I promptly walked to register six and bought one on impulse. It's still in the box .

The 360 is fucking awesome. Back to the subject at hand - no, I don't have a Wii yet. Goddamnit.

It seems they're all sold out over here. I was gonna buy one to give to someone for a gift. But everywhere I go they say "Im sorry, we're all sold out" Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

They're pretty fun, and they are a great idea. I was actually getting tired while playing.
They're not the best graphics, tho. My Legacy

My dad loves to play golf so I figured maybe he'd enjoy a golf game on the Wii, but is it so sophisticated that it would actually sense whether or not you have a good swing and aim?

I wouldn't say it's as demanding as actually playing golf. For example, on the bowling, we were all going through the motions stepping forward and bending down as if we were actually bowling. Then a gamer stepped up and merely raised his arm (without any body movement) in a rough gesture of bowling, and his scores were just as high. Also for tennis, I found that I could swing forehands for both my backhands & forehands onscreen. I didn't have to lunge to get the ball, just swing at the right time. So it's fun, but not a true simulation. My Legacy

So it's fun, but not a true simulation. Right, that's what I figured, and it sounds like it kind of takes the fun out of it (at least it would for me). On the other hand I'd be too lazy to do any movement at all most of the time. Escpecially if it was just me playing. Plus it would simply feel kind of stupid to sit there and swing by myself. Do you have to get physical with all the games, or is there usually a "joystick option" too?
