Remodeling

I've been on this home remodeling kick for so long.....and I haven't done one single thing.

Here's one of my issues. I've been looking on line for ideas on kitchen remodeling. My kitchen is freakishly small. You don't understand.....it's really small. I look up websites like Tinykitchen.com or whatever and their tiny kitchen is way bigger than mine. My kitchen is basically a pantry.

Do you have any remodeling challenges in your home?

If it's that small, is there really any point in doing significant remodelling? I have a tiny bathroom and there's just not much I can do with it so I just pop in there to do whatever it is I need to do, and then pop out again. lol

Do you have any remodeling challenges in your home?

Thankfully no. My apartment is all fresh and clean and newly renovated and I'm just waiting to buy it, so that I can immediately sell it again and finally move (which I've been wanting to do for a few years now).

I have a decent sized kitchen but it's hideous. I have no cupboards. I barely have any drawers. I've been using microwave carts for storage. I just feel so cluttered and I HATE that. But it will be awhile before I can really do anything about it. I've looked for cupboards at garage sales just to get me by until I can really remodel but I've come up empty handed.

Why, oh why can't I win the lottery?

My kitchen is really small too. What I did to make it appear larger was to paint my kitchen cabinets an off-white color (they previously were maple). Also, I have a light colored wallpaper on the walls, and the floor is white with splotches of another color. While it didn't make the kitchen physically larger, it gives it the appearance of being bigger.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

thats good, then you can spend more on high end finishes and appliances than if you have a big space to do. nod

It will ba a more manageable job in a small kitchen. You can just replace the old with the new and it makes a huge difference. Or even just paint. You don't need to re-arrange the whole room. And if you do, get an architect!

We remodel apartments.

Change the paint, the flooring, paint or replace the cabinets (with new knobs), new appliances, new lighting fixtures, sink, hardware, faucet.

Unfortunately I would, but I don't have a digital camera. That's next on my list of stuff to buy.

Ripping out the baseboards and painting in the living room so we can get carpet on Tuesday (ugh!)

and painting my daughters room and installing the baseboards so we can get carpet right after the living room carpet.

Can you say bit off too much?

I want to remodel it and just make it look nice. I'm even embarrassed to post a pic of it. It's gross. Especially since I don't spend much time in there. OH hell I may post a pic today.

I totally feel for you. Have you checked Ikea? They have some pretty inexpensive and cool stuff.

You're inspiring me. Thank you! I think a coat of paint will definately get things started.

My problem is that I start planning for one room and then start thinking about another. The next thing you know, nothing is done and I'm overwhelmed.

You're welcome. hug

I really want to get my ceilings and the walls that are not papered painted. I moved in here 18 years ago, and the last time I painted was right before I moved in. boxed lol I think I will hire somebody to do the job though, make it a lot easier. My parents hired a painter to paint some rooms in their house, and they were very reasonable.

What I did was start with the room I hated the most...my kitchen. I truly felt like I couldn't live with it another minute. lol

Initially I was going to do both bathrooms also, but my floor tiles started cracking and I ended up re-tiling all the floors. The bathrooms will have to wait till next year, (fingers crossed).

Anyway,,,I loooove my new kitchen! I replaced the cabinets, countertops, floor and painted.
