I have a whole shelf for DVDs that I've bought for very little money every now and then but still not gotten around to watching. Last night I took American Movie off that shelf. It was good and interesting, although a little bit too focused on humour (since it had quite a bit of dramatic potential).

Here are a few other DVDs on that shelf:

Fear Of A Black Hat
The Most Terrible Time In My Life
Torsk På Tallinn
Darwin's Nightmare
Tokyo Noise
Dust Devil
Munich
The Taking Of Pelham One Two Three
Vanishing Point
Princess Mononoke
The Young Poisoner's Handbook
Enemy Gold

I've only seen those 2, actually only half of poisoners handbook, it was on so late I got too tired to watch the rest.

and my family's having a zombie movie day sometime around christmas yay!

DON'T DO IT!!!!!

I went christmas shopping this Saturday with my friend, but after 30 minutes of pointless wandering we ended up at the cinema. Golden Compass was the only thing that was on around that time.

The movie started off pretty well, especially with Nicole Kidman's stellar entrance. We were happy:

However, about 30 minutes into the movie, we realized that Golden Compass was more about computer graphics than anything else. We became sceptical about the rest of the picture:

An hour into the movie, we just couldn't bare it anymore.
Horrible lead, weak dialogues, predictable conclusion.
We were 'bleh':

Save that money for Christmas gifts.
I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

Hey Mach, what's up with some religious groups protesting the movie as being sinister? I've only kimmed some articles in passing, but I thought maybe it was some dark vehicle that people were afraid was being marketed to brainwash children lol

It portrays the church as a scheming, child abusing lot. In a way, that is not even far from trhe truth.

But in book two and three they take on the world of the death AND god, so they might be anticipating that.

let us know how Juno is nod

Juno was good, funny biggrin Over-written in spots (every character has lightning fast wit, slang up the yang & killer metaphors - EVERY character shouldn't sound like the WRITER, lol) but it's so forgiveable being her first screenplay. I dug it nod
