Any where! I suggest Hawaii. I've never been there before, but people tell me it's beautiful! With the snow falling outside, Hawaii sounds damn good right about now. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I'm confused. I thought that travelers entering the U.S. always have to clear both Customs and Immigration, even though both inspections might be done by the same CBP officer. For example, if I go to Vancouver and then re-enter the U.S. at the I-5 land border crossing, I'll stop at one booth and deal with one person, who will essentially ask me two things: 1) What's my citizenship, and do I have a document to prove it? (i.e., Immigration) 2) What am I bringing back from Canada? (i.e., Customs) * * * Interestingly, in the last 15 years, I've had my passport stamped exactly once, and that was by U.S. Immigration at JFK airport when re-entering my own country. [Edited 12/15/07 0:44am] Yes, You do clear both Customs and Immigration in one inspection. For those travelers needing additional immigration processing or additional checks, they are referred to a secondary area. That is the type of inspection to which I was referring. I use my stamp as a way to admit people to the US. On the southern land border, there is no reason to stamp US passports. The stamp you received was done to document your arrival. Then again, that is NY and things are different there.
