Pit Bull gets taste of own medicine and gets mauled to death

Mystery beast mauls pit bull, kills puppies

Associated Press

Published on: 12/13/07

BOLIVIA, N.C. — An unknown predator mauled a pit bull and killed two puppies in Brunswick County, and residents fear it's the same animal that killed three dogs in September.

No one has reported ever seeing the animal.

The county's animal control agency investigated the animal's tracks, droppings and other clues but couldn't determine what attacked the dogs. Locals call the unknown animal the Beast of Bolivia.

Some residents and experts said the predator may be a bear, a wayward panther or cougar, or even a wolf because 3-inch paw tracks were found at the scene.

Many suggest the predator came from the nearby Faircloth Zoo, which had a lion and a tiger before it closed more than a year ago. Animal control officials said the animals were sent elsewhere.

Brunswick County Animal Services Director Richard Cooper said any further investigation would depend on an actual sighting.

"The investigation is at a standstill until we get a confirmed sighting," he said. "When we have something solid to go on that's substantiated, we'll ask the Wildlife Resources Commission to get involved."

Pit bulls are violent by nature. Even family pets (pits) that were treated good have turned on their owners.

Pit Bulls (American Bull Terriers) R most certainly NOT violent by nature.

They were considered the perfect family pet for years and years, in older America.

They have little 2 none human aggression factor.

"...the normal, well raised Pit Bull has NO human-aggressive tendencies! In fact, human-aggression was actually bred out of the breed. The majority of Pit Bulls are affectionate, intelligent, trainable dogs. In fact, the highest obedience trial record of all time is held by an American Pit Bull Terrier. Pit Bulls are one of the most stable people-friendly dogs in existence. The National Canine Temperament Testing Association tested 122 breeds, and Pit Bulls placed the 4th highest with a 95% passing rate!"

Aggressive Towards Humans

"A correct Pit Bull will never be aggressive with people. The Pit Bull has been breed for centuries to be a human-friendly dog.

It is not a guardian breed, and therefore should not display suspicion towards strangers or view them as potential threats. It is uncommon for a Pit Bull to be overly shy.

The Pit Bull is likely to meet all strangers with an open heart and a wagging tail. A normal Pit Bull looks upon all people as friends unless their actions prove otherwise.

Generally Pit Bulls are submissive with people and confident in their surroundings, making for a well-adjusted family dog. Since times past when the Pit Bull was used for hunting of large game and as a farm dog, it has been a cherished fixture of family life.

The Pit Bull has a special fondness for children and a pleased, relaxed look crosses its face when they approach. It can prove to be a safe, hardy friend that can keep up and put up with the active play life of kids. For a child, no better companion can be found."

My friends is being sued now, cause when he was on vacation, his put bull, which he raised to be a pet--no teaching agression, etc. etc., damaged his roomate's ex-girlfriends face to the point that she needs corrective surgery.

Apparently she got into an argument with his roomate, and got up to leave and the dog lunged at her and attacked her face.

I don't think the breed can be said to have absolutely non human-aggressive behavior. It's an animal. All breed of dogs have the potential for it--Pit bulls are in the spotlight I believe, cause they rank highest in fatal attacks, albeit, this is due to their popularity in being breed to fight, etc. etc.--a man made condition.

I owned pit bull terriers, two of them.
Rajah lived for seven years, she killed a german shepard when it tried to attack my son (who was six at the time).Rajah bit down on the german shepards neck, like a lion would to a wilderbeast, their jaws are like vices, but that is the only reason that cause fear for the breed. Rajah was protecting my son, and I'm glad that my son wasn't hurt too badly by the other dog. This same pittbull that killed a dog bigger than her, would sit and be still on command if she saw a cat in her reach. I never had to keep her on a leash, if she was loose and saw a cat, I'd say stay, and she would sit and stay there and never lunge at the cat. How many other dog owners can say that? She would never attack any animal unless she was told to. And yes, I commanded her to get the dog that was on my son.

Pitt bull dogs are not aggressive, and Rajah was very friendly towards everyone. Even when my dog was pregnant the kids would tug and swing on her tail while she'd be eating her food and she would never flinch or growl. My pitt was never chained up or fenced in ever.... because of this, she was never left outside alone, and never teased by children. When pitts are teased and harrassed by children and adults, they become people aggressive, and they attack because of the abuse.

I miss my babies, but after owning a breed like the pitt, I know from experience that those dogs if they are not abused are the freindliest dogs you can own.
