I grew up going to a lutheran church and they always had both the american flag and this flag in the front alter area in opposite corners or next to each other. I see them all the time displayed on flag poles on church grounds too. I thought it was slightly odd then, but forgot about it.

I guess they sure declared independence didn't they? Well we were holy rollers with tongues and all that stuff and if it were legal you know I would have been playin with snakes from that early an age I don't remember there ever being a Christian flag though. That's pretty hardcore if you think about it. [Edited 12/11/07 16:06pm] 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I think another reason it kind of seemed odd is I swear I've seen it used in KKK rallies and court rooms. I could be mistaking though.

Also, there is a period and an exclamation mark at the end of the second to last sentence. The exclamation mark is sufficient punctuation Man, that ad is a hot mess And it's missing a comma after 'cord' (if you ascribe to serial commas or the Chicago Manual of Style rules). I would have called that shit in immediately...."Yes, hello, there's a truck on the freeway, license BF38773 that has all sorts of stuff attached to it which could easily fly off." Crazy ass bible bangers. And I'm a little unclear about how Israel fits into their fundamentalist insanity...are the truck owners pro-Christian or pro Jew/Israel? I mean you can be both, I guess, you just don't really see the Christians advertising the Israeli flag that much... Okay--here's a funny flag story. So my mom is really into church (Methodist, but she's relatively cool about it) and when I lived in Chicago one of my apartments was near Halsted/Boystown, which is largely gay. So she's visiting me and sees all those rainbow flags hanging everywhere, right? After the visit she calls me and wants me to buy one of those "rainbow flags." I asked her why. Her response: to hang in the church as a symbol of the Rainbow Covenant between Noah and God after the flood. I said, "You do realize that flag represents gay pride right?" She was like, "well if we hang it in the church it means the Rainbow Covenant." I said, "No it means gay pride, and I'll only buy it for you if you acknowledge that." So I bought it for her and I guess it's hanging in the Methodist church. (I don't know because I refuse to set foot in the church when I visit.)

That, my friend, is the official Christian flag. In my parochial school youth, I had to pledge allegiance to it every morning, as well as make a seperate pledge to the Holy Bible. The pledge went something like this: I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag and to the saviour, for whose kingdom it stands. One savior, crucified, risen and coming again, with life and liberty for all who believe. The Bible pledge started out like this (can't remember the ending): I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God's holy word. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path... Yes, I needed therapy in my late teens/early 20s.
