Well, I am glad that there is still one world nation that keeps it roots firmly in the neanderthal state of mind.

I guess I'm a hypocrite because I don't like people killing animals. I feel like a hypocrite because I eat animals that have been killed. Therein lies my dilemma.

I just don't feel that killing something should be cause for celebration.

well if you have a gun and can aim and shoot you can kill just about anything. I was hoping for a story where the kid killed the bear with his bare hands. Now THAT would be a story. Otherwise it's pretty sad. Even sadder that Cnn would consider this newsworthy.

That's the link to Arkansas Game and Fish regulations.
There's no age limit in Arkansas for hunting. Over the age of 16, one must have a hunter safety class in order to be licensed. Under 16, one must accompanied by an adult to hunt.
Hunting bear requires a hunting license and permit.
No, I don't agree with a 5 year old shooting a bear.
I don't agree with anyone sitting on the animal for pictures.
I don't hunt anything I'm not going to eat, and bear meat isn't very good.
Everything in the video, was done within the Arkansas Game and Fish regs.
If you don't like hunting, don't look at videos of hunters! wink

exactly, I wasn't posting this to say they didn't have a right to do what they do. Hell, they have a right to post posters of "God Hates Fags" by the side of the road.

I was just grossed out that cnn is treating this "coverage" as #1) news, and #2) a hero story.

The boy shot an animal and killed it. WTF is he holding for a gun in the first place? ill
He can't even speak English correctly--they need to work on that first! ill

I beg to differ:
MORAL
Morality (from the Latin moralitas "manner, character, proper behavior") has three principal meanings.
In its first descriptive usage, morality means a code of conduct held to be authoritative in matters of right and wrong, whether by society, philosophy, religion, or individual conscience.
In its second, normative and universal, sense, morality refers to an ideal code of conduct, one which would be espoused in preference to alternatives by all rational people, under specified conditions. To deny 'morality' in this sense is a position known as moral skepticism.[1]
In its third usage 'morality' is synonymous with ethics, the systematic philosophical study of the moral domain.[2]

Are you saying hunting is immoral???
That requires an explanation.

that's very nice but something tells me you are in the minority. We used to go on hunting trips and one time I went alone with my stepdad at 12 and they made me sit and watch them kill a rabbit and then laughed at me for crying. I really despise the notion of hunting for sport because it teaches males lots of fucked up shit, including that they aren't men if they have feelings and are more of a man for killing something for fun. I'm sickened by the gun and hunting culture in this cuntry.

It's a tradition in some families. How many people do you know, who grew up on a ranch or farm, who didn't hunt, or have a shotgun in the house?

hunting in and of itself certainly is not.
IMHO :
a) Hunting with a helicopter or an ATV and big ass guns is
b) Hunting with kids is
c) Hunting anything that you won't eat, just for the heck of it is
d) raising animals to become targets for hunting is

you can console yourself by saying you didn't break any law. I'm sure you don't jaywalk and you always keep to the speed limit.

That's your personal experience.
Hunting has nothing to do with the concept of males not being men, if they have feelings. That's between you and your stepdad. wink

You're making a comparison between something that's legal, and jaywalking and speeding, which isn't. That makes no sense.

Letters a,b,c,d, are your personal opinion. That doesn't make it immoral.

Something tells me that you don't know shit of what you're talking about. I would never dream of trying to bond with my son, or anyone else for that matter, by taking them on a killing trip. I've never known anyone, man or woman who would do that.

Your generalisation must come from somewhere. What kind of men do you hang out with?
