but i'm happy with my new purchase (my mum bought it for me )

ok so my last camera was broken horribly (lens kicked out to the side while it was zoomed in and stuff) and well, it was a huge clunker of a thing and i guess it's time was up (it was JUST over a year old )

so my mom bought me a new camera for xmas, as i'll be in a digital imaging course and will NEED a digicam (i think all artists should have one)
so i got the
KODAK (im in love with the brand) EasyShare M883:



it's charging right now (lithium ion battery!)

i really was just looking for a point n shoot, i'll be looking into an SLR camera later on in life when i have the monies ^_^
but now i can continue with making and documenting my art

Do you have colour modes Sammi? As far as I can remember Kodak has a Sypia and black and white option. I quite like the Kodak range; simple enough to use.

This was taken with a Kodak C743. The sharpness and the colours impressed me. The only slight drawback was that there was no audio on the video option I think.

Cool. My mom told me she bought me one for Christmas too, because I was talking to her about getting this particular one. I guess she was forced to ruin her surprise and tell me. It's a Kodak too, but I'm not sure exactly what model.

I just bought this the other day, a Panasonic Lumix fx30:



$230 with 1GB memory card and tiny Lowepro pouch.

I wanted something for when I don't want a big bag with me, and also it's kinda for Mon really. I still have the Olympus sp-500uz...



I don't know if I'll sell it or keep it as a 'bridge' camera, since I'll be getting a Nikon D40x next month.



And I'm definitely bringing this bad boy back with me next time I go back to the UK

I will say though, and I like the Lumix so far, but I wish they wouldn't race to up the MP count on super compact cameras. The Lumix I got is 7MP but I wish it were only maybe 5 or 6. I've seen similar with 10 or even 12 and the sensors just aren't up to the job. It means for worse pictures.

Oops. No, it shouldn't be shitty. With mine I had to get used to certain peculiar foibles in the pictures, but fiddling around with settings I could work around nearly everything. I think sometimes people have unrealistic expectations with compact cameras. I like mine for what it is and it's great being able to take a camera with me every single time I go somewhere. I'll post some pics I've taken with it shortly.

I love old SLRs. Just looking at them let alone taking pictures. I miss my Canon AE-1.
