Finding out the baby's sex before birth - Yay or Nay?

We have two kids, and we did not find out the sex of either before birth. It was so cool!

Sure, the families were a little put out, but in they end, they loved it that way too. I'll never forget going into the waiting room after each birth, looking at the assembled crowd, and announcing, "It's a boy!" or "It's a girl!"

Everyone would clap and scream - even the people not associated with us. It was just like in the movies!

With today's technology, most people don't even consider that they do not have to know the sex beforehand. I'm telling you, it's a blast if you wait.

Yeah, while it all sounds very nice, I simply can't relate to this one.

Sorry.

ok, I guess I'll contribute to this thread cause I like RodeoSchro and all.

My sister waited on both her kids to discover their sex at the birth of each.

The reason she did this is horrible falloff

Jane (my sister) is notorious for disliking girls and girly things. She was afraid that if she knew the baby was a girl, that she would resent her pregnancy. So she just didn't want to know.

She had boys both times, which is good, cause I wouldn't want to have had to call her several times a day to remind her to feed the baby girl if she had one rolleyes

I would have really liked to have had a niece to spoil, but I do love my nephews alot. And the surprise is kind of nice, but you have to buy gender nuetral gifts, etc. etc. so it's a bit annoying to those of us doing that.

Nah, you just tell your loved ones to wait until the birth before buying gender-specific stuff.

You can borrow my daughter anytime but I warn you - most of the spoiling has already been done!

I knew this wasn't going to be what I thought it was going to be. RodeoSchro induces one like myself to feel so dirty that I should take like ten showers a day because my mind is a dirty one. And, I'm a virgin....."NOT!!!" smile

EDIT: "I Don't mean DIRTY in that way....I mean, not FOR him! I mean.....awwww, fuck it!"

I wanted to know the sex so I could plan for him accordingly, but even if I didn't want to know...as soon as I looked at the ultrasound I discovered right away that I was having a boy. There is was in plain sight.

I really like the idea and I will definitely try my best to stick to it whenever the time comes.

Some traditions should be preserved, they make life so much more exciting!

I agree. The way we looked at it is that there are very few surprises in life that are guaranteed to be good surprises. This is one.

my older three I could tell by the ultra sound we were having a boy lol now my youngest was more modest, which was great. So we had no idea what we were having until George was born. Jason and I didn't care as long as he was healthy.

My wife and I knew the sex of both of our children. We both wanted to know the sex of the baby. Plus, my wife does ultrasounds, so we were able to see the babies all throughout the pregnancy.

I wouldn't want to know until after birth, is that normal?
Besides, whenever the time comes, I want all yellow/ white, duckies/ bees/ giraffes deco. For babies, I like these colors, they're happy colors! lol

We just wanted to know. Not for any practical reason and not because the suspense was killing us or we had a prefernece or anything...

But why not? razz

Oh don't get me wrong, I love my nephews.

But girls are just cuter when they're demanding and all pouty.

Plus boys are expensive. The break shit.. all. the. time...

That is a tough one. It would be great to know ahead of time for planning the nursery and for others to buy gifts.
It would be great to be surprised as well.

Dude - the most destructive boy on Earth could not run up a tab that would even APPROACH what a girl will spend at Club Libby Lu or Limited II. And God help you (or me, actually) when the little girl discovers Coach, Gucci and Louis Vitton.

I'm with Calhoun on this one!

I don't plan on having children, I mean anything can happen. I'm scared because I've made fun of so many ugly babies, I'd probably have a deformed baby as karmic retribution sigh
