Tuesday's Oprah: video of woman being abused.

I don't know, I watched the show--me being the only non-gay man who likes Oprah--and, I have to say, I still don't know if the show went over the line--was it exploitive? Did it present the woman being abused as entertainment? It was hard to watch, which was the point, but I really feel odd about having watched it. Sometimes reality makes you think, but who's to know.

Anybody else watch it?

Well, this woman went on her show, it seems her husband videotaped about 51 minutes of him verbally and pysically abusing her on camera. He made his 13 year old son tape the abuse. She goes on the show talking about what he did to her and how she got out and had him sent to prison for 38 years. My main point was about the video and if it was exploitation to show it on television. I'm sure it will help a lot of people, but it is still exploitive.

Well, it doesn't sound as if the video was shown for the purposes of entertainment, so not sure if it should be labeled as exploitation...but I didn't see the show... neutral

I've seen the show. I don't think it was exploitative at all. I think Oprah and the woman were trying to show the audience how horrible it was of the father to make his child watch and participate in that.
