Last summer, I stuffed the bodies with the tentacles, scallops, herbs and garlic, and grilled them on a charcoal grill. DAMN, that was good. (i only use pure lump charcoal.... not briquettes) That sounds delicious! RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I like calamari best steamed and served with garlic, pepper and placed in pool of olive oil with gigantic 4 cheese ravioli.... Octopus is my absolute favorite seafood, followed closely by my mom's saltfish(cod) salad and raw oysters eaten on the shell with hot sauce..... to some people these may sound gross, but they really are extremely good. I'm getting hungry again (and I just had lunch). RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Now who's making who hungry?? Sounds like we should eat together sometime... I also love octopus... especially fresh. I was on the Yucatan peninsula (on the Carribean, in Mexico) 4 the last 2 Januarys, and I went 2 this small outdoor restaurant just off the beach... Non tourist area, pretty sparse. I had some ceviche there, that was so good, I could've eaten a gallon of it. It had the freshest Octopus I ever tasted, along with white fish, and shrimp, chopped onion, tomato, avocado, lime juice, and plenty of cilantro. I would probably go apeshit over your Mom's saltfish cod salad. I love that stuff. Do U like tostones? It is my fav form of plantano... I can make them. It's easy. ~Giovanni [Edited 12/7/07 10:37am] "He's a musician's musician..."

They make great appetizers [Edited 12/7/07 10:47am]

On the Discovery channel I saw this show that proved that octopi could think because the showed them exhibiting jealousy, anger, and happiness.... oh and I saw another show where an octopus figures out how to escape out of a tank, and slither across a room, climb up to another tank, swipe a lobster and go all the way back to its original tank....impressive, makes me enjoy eating them more

Calamari is very good. I've had it once or twice, it's delicious! Calamari is best prepared by marinated that put on the grilled. Or, it can be fried lightly.
