Seiously, it was NYD 1999 and we were driving home from Milwaukee and it was snowing really hard. We get home and park the cars in the lot go in and crash/napped while it continued to storm outside. We awoke to find the entire lot buried under the snow. People were using a cardboard box to dig themselves out. It had snowed so much that the plows inadvertantly pushed the El (subway) off of it's tracks by an inch, but it broke the train system that went int he direction going to the airport, where I worked. To get to work, I had to walk to the bus in the crappy snow, take bus to the EL station, take the EL to the broken point in the system and then take a shuttle to the airport. This was for almost a month. I called my buddy here in San Fran (who had been asking when I was moving out there) and told him, I was D-O-N-E! Isn't it ridiculous? It really is. |

Get ready...more snow tomorrow and this weekend! I snapped these yesterday evening, just as the snow was beginning to taper off. Pretty pictures!! |

Still no snow here. The temperature has been glued to +5C for a few weeks so even if we got some it wouldn't stay long. It's too bad because it's really too bloody dark at this time of year.

I sometimes forget and take for granted the fact that we more or less don't have to deal with winter here in Cali It's about 80 degrees right now, and nice and sunny. Although we did have a couple cold days and a couple days of rain. There might be more rain over the weekend. That is pretty much our winter here
Hope you stay warm Carrie! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I'm a Southerner who, for the majority of my military career, has been stationed at cold weather posts (Upstate NY being the ABSOLUTE WORST!!!)....I'm loving it out here in Arizona because the winters aren't bad at all...

Every year gets harder and harder for me too Carrie. And with all this lake effect snow. Yuck!
I swear the sap is hardening in my old limbs and I have a hard time even making myself go outside sometimes. I can handle the snow and ice around the holidays, but after Jan 1, I've had enough. It gets old fast. The long hours of darkness, the feeling stir crazy and restless, the S.A.D. - it's gets unbearable at times. Let's go rent a little villa in South America, say Peru or Brazil and just do watercolor, go swimming and drink cocktails until April. How's that sound?
