Well if you chose that particular name then yeah, I can see why they would think that. lol

Don't you know any people at all that have "re-named" themselves though? It might be simple and common versions like Don instead of Donald and Mike instead of Michael. I know people that have chosen those for themselves.

Then there are the extreme cases like when a former friend of mine changed his name from Finn to Batte. In English that might make sense since "Finn" is a nationality but in Swedish "Batte" sounds very much like "blatte" which is similar to your "N" word. confused

Actually, no. I don't know anyone who has given a nickname to themself. It ahs always come from family or firends callimg them that over the years (such as Don, Mike, Rick, etc.
I remember my friend Rick once tried to get people to call him RJ (his middle name is James, no lie) and we pretty much all thought it was silly. And it never stuck.

evenstar

my name isn't really conducive to nicknames, or shortening. shrug so everyone pretty much calls me laurel. my best friend calls me laurelish half the time because she's weird like that lol, and someone else calls me 'useless cunt' because he's quite the romantic. nod

It's odd, I have given nicks to most of my friends...I tend to do that with everyone...but I've never had a nickname myself.

Oh! and I forgot my most special one! When I still had parents (they passed away 10 years ago) they use to call me "Baby" because I was the baby of the family. I hated being called baby when I was 31, but damn if I wouldn't go back in time to hear them say it again. cloud9
