I'm wondering have y'all been mistaken for being of a certain nationality or ethnicity or something like that when you clearly are not? I have one story that happened to me last week.

I work in retail and I was working at the register like I sometimes do. This middle-aged American guy is buying some stuff. After he pays he tells me: "You look like you're Jewish, so I wish you a happy Chanukkah." I was a bit surprised and I told him I'm not Jewish. He said: "Oh, you're a Christian then. Merry Christmas" Actually I can trace myself through the massive Icelandic geneology database to a Jewish ancestor from the 18th century, a Danish merchant who lived in Iceland. But I ask you, do I look even remotely Jewish?

i don't look Arabian and the foreign labor is huge in here so go figure.

i've had people say i look jewish too. it must be a very diverse look.

The thing is though that VERY few Jewish people live in Iceland, probably less than 100. And hardly any of them are born in Iceland, almost all of them are immigrants from USA or perhaps Russia or Israel. However there are some people I know that have Jewish ancestors two or three generations back, but of course they don't technically qualify as "Jewish".
