Sir Anthony Hopkins & a ventriliquist dummy... Just the ads scared me as a kid! I can still quote the little sing a long they played in the commercials. Abracadabra, I sit on his knee. Presto, change-o, and now he's me! Hocus Pocus, we take her to bed. Magic is fun...we're dead. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

Dark Water was probabbly the last movie to really get under my skin. The ending was sad/frightening at the same time. The whole mood of the movie really weighs down on you.

"Loook at meee...." Yeah those eyes still freak me the hell out. The part that really got me as a kid is when the grave digger is in the grave of the boy and opens up the coffin...looks up and then looks back down and...aaaaaggghhhh!!! I damn near jumped out of my skin the first time I saw that as a little boy...But it turned me into a Stephen King fan for life!

AGREED! I think this movie is my favorite movie of all time. I love scary movies but this is the ONLY one that I can't watch by myself, to this day. ok, seriously:
the scene in 'inland empire' where laura dern is running up a dirt road and her face gets all close up in the camera and she MAKES THAT FACE if you saw the movie, you know what i'm talking about. there's another scene in that movie that severely messed with me, but i won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it...

liberation said: Very little scares me these days, last movie to really scare me was "What Lies Beneath", the original trailer for Cloverfield got me freaked out...and last night i saw a reality show whereby racist Troy Kell stabbed a black inmate 67 times....they showed the actual footage, it was horrific!
Ooh, when i first saw Alien....when he popped out! Funny ... when I read the title of this thread I thought noone will say "what lies beneath". But I found that genuinely frightening too, though more in a jumpy fright way than an actual fear (if you know what I mean). Same thing with 'The Ring' (Hollywood version), especially the horse bit. Someone else said 'The Shining'. When I was young, that scared the bejesus out of me. All three of these are amongst my top 10 fav movies. L I'm just, I'm just Levi from the org

HA! Did you see the spoof of "The Exorcist" (scene in the bedroom) in "Scarey Movie", with James Woods? He plays the priest, and just shoots her. It's too funny.

I grew up on "Frankenstein", "The Wolfman", "Dracula", "The Mummy", and all the "House of...." . In addition, Outer Limits, and Rod Sterling, "The Twilight Zone". The 1st "Aliens" scared me, then I was into it. I love all of them.
