I Miss Eddie Murphy's Stand Up

I remember when I was a kid and first getting into Eddie Murphy's stand up comedy. There seemed like so much stuff I had yet to discover. It started with the comedian CD. From there, I went and found all his stuff. I watched it all time and time again.

Tonight, I was watching Raw on DVD with a friend of mine and I realized how much I wish Eddie Murphy would do more stand up. It really sank in tonight, that while his classic stand up is still funny, there won't be anything NEW from him in the stand up comedy world to discover now.

Now don't get me wrong, I mean Shrek is great and everything, but seriously, Eddie should do one more stand up special.

Who agrees?

I don't think he could recapture the same kind of energy he had then. The climate was just right for his stuff. Alot of that stuff woulf fall to the PC police too.

It would be interesting to see him try though.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

If he did one I'd look forward to it but there'd be so much pressure to kill it, he doesn't seem to have the guts for that anymore. He chooses things that are totally safe for many years now. It's like he's in a permanent state of embarrassment since the tranny thing. But I'd love to see him try, he's still funny in interviews smile

Yes Eddie Murphy was a bad boy in the 80's.
He and the Black Pack owned the mid-to late 80's and early 1990's.

Eddie also realized how much $$$ he could make by doing family fare. Ice Cube seems to have jumped on this bandwagon, too.

Seriously, I used to like Eddie a lot, but that fiasco over his 9th child was and still is totally ridiculous. Melanie must have really pissed him off, which really has nothing to do with the child

i agree. and really needs to get off whatever ego trip he's got going on. He's not even worthy of his own arrogance. I really don't see what she did except i guess be a inconvenience between him and that tracy edmonds chick.

The only thing I could possibly imagine is he thought, for some odd reason, she wouldn't get pregnant. You know, maybe she said she was on the pill or using another type of contraceptive... or he told her to abort and she wouldn't, but that doesn't make sense because she said she didn't even know they broke up until she read it or he wouldn't return her calls or some fucked up shit like that. She thought he was happy about the child. Maybe he did meet Tracey and decided he was done with Melanie, but what does that have to do with him being a father? What kind of a woman is Tracey to be with a man like that???

The only standup I've ever seen him do is Delirious and Raw (which were both good). Is there anything else out there?
