favorite sandwich

I just made a lovely smoked turkey and cheese on toasted wheat bread. Lettuce, tomato, mayo. salt and pepper, pickles and some crumbled potato chips.
Sometimes a regular old sammich is the best thing in the world.
mmmmm.. saturdays, me and the boy, and sammiches. oh,and booze.
technique people! put the salt and pepper directly on the tomato.

damn, i wish i had some bacon!

Lately I have been enjoying fried egg sandwiches. A fried egg with just a sprinkle of shredded cheddar (melted) and 2 slices of veggie bacon on whole wheat toast.

I particularly like the sandwich I had today at a deli in Ann Arbor: pastrami on pumpernickel with scallion cream cheese and lettuce. Kosher dining at its finest.

Is there any type of food that you really miss ?

I bought a sandwich press this summer but I JUST started using it recently. It's sooooo good when you're either too lazy or too much in a hurry to make a full fledged meal.I generally serve 'em along side a nice mixed salad with light vinegraitte, or a bowl of soup from a homemade batch I keep in the fridge. These are some combinations I eat non-stop lately:

-proscuitto & caprese (basil, mozzerella & olive oil) on wheat baguette

-spinach, sliced tomato, sliced red onion, & feta on wheat bread of choice

-thinly sliced genoa, calabrese, or milanese salami w/ roasted red pepper & provalone on panini style bread

-sliced chicken or turkey breast w/green onion, arugula, swiss cheese and thinly sliced mango on wheat

- thinly sliced roast beef or leftover steak wrapped in whole wheat tortilla w/ blue cheese & roasted red peppers
