effin ridiculous!

Can I just say that sometimes people can be really fuckin stupid.

My mother works at Downstate Hospital on the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit).

Earlier this week a woman gave birth to a healthy baby. Doctors came and did the usual. Checked signs and what not. Then took the baby away.

About an hour later, they came to tell the mother that her baby is on NICU because of a fractured skull. neutral

Apparently, one of the doctors dropped the baby. Instead of fessing up to it, they tried to say the baby fell out of the incubator because it wasnt closed all the way. They tried to say the baby rolled over and fell out. WTF?!?!?

How the hell a newborn baby manage to roll over???

....I smell a big ass lawsuit....

I work in a children's hospital. A newborn is not responsible for rolling out of its incubator.

This is serious!

And the thing about it is that my mother said she went to visit the baby's mother and she seemed fine. Not me, I would've been flippin shit upside down.

Like, I'm sure it was an accident. But I would still be so frustrated after carrying a healthy baby to term (A LOT OF WORK/SACRIFICE) only to have something bad like that happen while trusting the care of a health professional.

When my sister was in the hospital with my first nephew he had to go to NICU. My sister said there was this baby that was a premature baby in there and that the doctor they had taking care of that paticular child was an intern instead. The intern wound up breaking on of the baby's arms and one of the baby's legs disbelief.....the mom was furious and wanted to sue the hospital for all it's worth!

It's hard to trust these doctors!!! sigh

disbelief

I hope the baby will be ok ... but they will only be able to tell what damage was done after a few months/years.

Can it be they put the mom on some sedatives to keep her calm ?? I would be all over the place if this happened to me sad

As for Kid's story ... omfg you know exactly how difficult it is to break a baby's / little kid's bones ??? That would be nothing less than malicious intent. Such a person should not be allowed near any kid ever again !!!

I had a neighbor when I lived in Delaware and her daughter started to limp and cry so she made an appointment and took her to the doctor. They asked all kinds of questions and did a work up. They took x rays and it turned out that there was a break in her leg in a really weird place. Apparently it was a place that is very uncommon to break. The doctor questioned my friend repeatedly about how this happened and my friend kept saying she didn't know. The doctor didn't believe her and reported her to child protective services. To make a long story short they almost took her daughter away from her. She and her husband were investigated for 6 months and had surprise home visits by a case worker. CPS called us to interview us about them. They had baby sat for us a million times and we trusted them totally. We watched each other's kids all the time. I don't believe for a second that they abused their daughter.

It's so scary that that can happen. I would be going crazy if someone tried to take my child from me.

nod
and it would be hard to go through such an investigation. On the other hand, I'd rather be investigated 5 times and let go than knowing such investigations don't exist and people that really abuse children are not caught ...

If it weren't for humanity, we wouldn't need all those rules and regulations

True...I know that they are just doing their jobs. For the most part I think that they do a good job. They are so overloaded with cases and those social workers make next to nothing. They do it because they love and care about children.

I just heard a story on the news about a woman who took her 2 small kids in a public restroom and stabbed them to death. sad

What the hell?

It's sad to hear about adults lives being taken for no good reason, but when I hear about kids it just breaks my heart. Can you imagine how horrified and scared those poor babies must have been?
