A few years back I was gaining weight because I quit smoking so one day out of the blue I went for a 2 mile run and fast forward to now I have run 6 marathons and anything less then a 10 mile run I look at as taking easy which is pretty funny when I think back to that first 2 mile run.
Finishing the TC Marathon: Running is not bad for knees and joints as long as you build up properly and take it easy. I know hundreds of runners and basically it is very easy to avoid injury if you train smartly. There are way more people hurt in weight rooms every day then there are running. I know a guy who is in 70's who runs 8 miles 5 days a week and 15-20 every Sunday and he's never hurt and he runs them at an 8:00 a mile pace Also, there are some good sights for figuring out distance on runs such as mapmyrun.com I usually wear a GPS watch but I have found this site is extremely accurate. | |

Running in a marathon in the next couple of years is my goal....how did you train...did you concentrate on distance...incorporate sprints?? My real goal is to complete a triathalon when I retire from the military in 5 years...regardless of where I place... He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.
