They're very vacant live. You need to know what they're like because there's next to no crowd interaction and such.

I think that's kind of it. The first time I saw them was at a club show at First Ave when they first came out a few years ago. It was sold out, but it was a mostly a scenester "see and be seen" event. I was right up front on the floor (just a couple people back from the stage) and no one seemed to be into it at all, most everyone around me was talking through half of it. I tried again, cause I thought maybe it was just a lame crowd, but I haven't been able to get into a live show of their's since.

yeah, both times i saw interpol i felt like i was at an audience taping of 'top of the pops' or something. it was very removed. but i guess that's their schtick and it works for them. if i want audience interaction, i'll go to a !!! show - both times i saw them, someone next to me got teabagged by the lead singer. i'm always the bridesmaid, never the corpse, i guess. so by comparison, seeing interpol has its share of small blessings. which brings us back to dan.

I guess I'm just turning into an old lady. If I'm going to pay good money to see a band live, I want it to be different than standing around in my living room listening to the album really loud.
Of course, I think maybe I had comps to that show, so I probably didn't pay anyway. lol

You mean the singer would teabag Dan out of pity?
