He's got kind of a Beetlejuice thing going there, but I'm really excited about the darker take. I loved "Batman Begins".

Nolan has read "The Killing Joke" and the early Batman-Joker stories, so you know his Clown Prince wil be sick-as-hell.

as long as they don't make him TOO gritty and realistic, it should be cool. i thought the first "batman begins" movie tried to be so gritty and "real" that it sucked the fun out of the characters.

That may be the best Batman/Joker tale ever told. Although The Dark Kinght Returns isn't canon, The Killing Joke fits so perfectly with it. A 1-2 punch masterpiece.

I'm happy as long as it has a sick sense of humor.

My favorite Joker comic book moment was in Dark Knight Returns #1, when he proclaims on the Dave Letterman show that he's going to kill everyone in the theatre, casually puffing a cigar...then proceeds to do so (though it's called the Dave Endocrin show in the comic).

Even Paul! Ok, I'm getting in touch with my inner-comic book geek...

I thought the only downside to the movie was when it stopped being real, like that silly car they gave him, or the over the top action of the ending.

Also, http://www.whysoserious.com/ is a viral marketing website that changes a lot and is a lot of fun. For the build up to Halloween they had a Jack-O-Lantern - with a Bat-Symbol mouth and a candle that gradually melted down to nothing on Halloween night. People were then asked to submit pictures of themselves dressed as the Joker for Halloween next to famous landmarks. Those that got chosen had their pix posted and are supposed to be receiving some sort of gift in the mail.

I am extremely geeked about this movie.

This will always be the real Joker, but I am intrigued by the new spin on the character

That will always be Jack Nicholson in Joker make up, which aint necessarily a bad thing, but that movie pretty much sucked.

the Joker has always been written best as a complete homicidal maniac. Killing Joke, Dark Knight kinda crazy. Burton's was cool, but campy. I'm excited to see a good spin on him in the new flick.

Yep. With all due respect to Jack, Nolan's Joker will be closer to the comic version.
