Hi-Def Aficionados: LCD HDTV

In you opinion:
Is there something better than a Toshiba 26LV67 LCDVD?
This is for my bedroom.

I like it because it has the dvd palyer built in. (Less components)

Is this also going to work well for Apple TV?
Or is Apple TV itself limited and not worth the price?

go to cnet.com for the best reviews and recommendations...

I think you could do better picture quality than that for the same size...

I guess, I really like the dvd player in it too, even though its been suggested as an extra that could fail.

any thought or recommendations are appreciated. and maybe ideas of what i should look for in a 26" lcd tv.

what's the highest price you will pay? And yes I would not recommend a built in dvd player. They are so cheap anyway these days!

I dont exactly care for the samsung shiny black case.
I want the tv to go away. No trendy silver.
Just a classic matte black case, that looks like nice stereo componets.
No 'dazzling' blue lights. lol
I dont think I want a 32" either cause I dont want it to light up the entire room.
And I have an idea of where I want to place it/set it which is only likely to accomodate a 26" panel.

When viewing 1080p...on a 26" or for that matter 32" screen you dont need it to display 1080p, 720 is sufficiant, right? Not that Im clear on what any of that means. I just want the best picture for a one time purchase, with the most inputs.

none of that is as important to me as the image quality of the screen in terms of contract ratio, black levels, and color accuracy. I can paint the case if it is really bad!

The top rung Samsungs are the best picture quality for their price. top end Pioneers are good too. Phillips don't seem to rate very high when tested, but the more expensive Sony's are not bad, but not the best by far!

Here's last year's lower budget hdtv's

these people are serious, they even give you the exact settings to change each parameter to for the most accurate picture on many of the models.

I dont want to, but Im thinking of putting it off until after christmas, maybe spring. Its likely then they will have 1080p ones, right?
Pioneers IYO are best, Samsung next...I want the black levels to be excellent too. nod

just check here for updates or newer articles like this, I think it's a good reference backed up by calibration tests:
