Same here..I am not a scary movie fan. It always seems so fake.
Now the news scares the hell out of me...

Luckily I have not been watching it.

"Halloween" - I actually screamed "He's not dead!" the first time Jamie Lee Curtis put Michael Myers down.

"The Blair Witch Project" - Mentioned earlier

"Jaws" - The first time I went into the water after seeing that movie, I just KNEW a shark was going to bite my legs off

You are right. I just remembered a time that a scary movie scared me. When I was little I hated scary movies, I would sit in the same room while my mom watched them but not look at the screen. One time my mom went upstairs (so she said) while one of those scary movies was on about cannibals. She had actually gone outside and around the back door of the room we were in down in the basement and scratched on the door really loud to scare me and my half sis.
We screamed!!
That was the last time a movie scared me.

Unless it is based on a true story.

The movie is outdated now and by today's standards the special effects are less than impressive, but the early 80s television miniseries called "The Day After", about the moments leading up to and the days following a nuclear attack, was quite scary to me the first time I ever watched it.

The Exorcist
Damien: The Omen
The Blair Witch Project (Don't judge me! mad I was young. Now, that I'm older, I can't be bothered to believe half of the shit conveyed throughout the film. Besides, after I had seen Scary Movie, it was pretty much a laugh riot in thinking about The Blair Witch Project! Those Wayans, boy! lol )

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (The Original!)
The Amityville Horror (The Original!)

Last but, not least...."A Nightmare on Elm Street!!!" Any of the ones that had followed had began to feature a Freddy Krueger with comic relief (Although I even had a guilty pleasure for those). The Original was of a dark theme. I don't care what anyone says! It might not scare me, now.
(I don't know. I haven't seen it in a while.) But, when I was younger, it would scare the hell out of me. Plus, no matter how you slice it, it was a pretty damn good movie! mad

I always heard these movies were gross and scary. It was on one night (HBO) so I thought I'd check it out. OMG. eek I could not finish it. It was the sickest, grossest, thing I've ever seen. It was a bit scary, but more just sick.

The only movie that ever truly scared me was Superman III. confused

There was this one scene where a woman gets pulled into a machine and it transforms her into a robot. For some reason that scene haunted me for months.

Seeing the exorcist at a very young age...shit still scares me...Poltergeist when I was in 6th grade scared me...the Shining still scares me too but that's because of Kubrick and his weird camera angles...

House of 1,000 Corpses freaked me out. Like when they're playing "Brick House" while killing that guy (or chick, I don't remember). It just is like "WTF would I do in that situation??"
Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

the japanese horror ghost stories ones.

watch japanese tales of terror, some of the stories are funny or silly, but some are rather creepy.

the ending of silence of the lambs had on me the edge of my seat.

Oh Itchi the Killer that movie is fucking twisted, its downright scary.
